There would be all kinds of crime. The criminals won’t give up their guns. That’s kinda what makes them criminal. If you want a look at what a Society that doesn’t have guns look like just look at Chicago or DC.

I want to be able to defend myself.
jeancolby · 31-35, F
@Pikachu Troll and thug.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@jeancolby Get over yourself.. Just because I point out the flaws in your argument doesn't make me either a troll or a thug. 'Troll' Is frequently used by those who can't come up with a valid argument to convince the other.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@jeancolby I'd be a target? If I had the mind to break in and attack you and you were asleep, you wouldn't be in any position to do much of anything. Stop watching movies, they're not real.

I believe, so long as the Second Amendment stands unmodified in the Bill of Rights, any proposal to implement anything like that would be met with reasonable armed resistance.

To strictly answer your question though, I think we need only look at countries that have a disarmed citizenry. Of course, gun crime goes down, but is not eradicated. Instances of other types of violent crime go way up to bring the overall crime rate at a similar level as it was when gun crime was common.

My personal opinion however, while I only own Black Powder weapons, is that the legislation we do have on the table is the root cause for the increase in gun related crime. Our citizenry is overall uneducated about the proper usage of the Second Amendment, which has led to a decline in individuals willing to carry with a purpose, in defense of the State (the People)

A revolver and double barrel shotgun is the most you could need to defend your home or your person. How safe do you need to feel? M203? Grenade? Don't trust the cops? This is why we need to have a conversation. Work out a compromise. Backgrounds checks, and keep firearms out of the hands of the unstable.
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
And may I remind you sir, you asked for a dialogue, which you have refused to engage in.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
@Moosepantspatty I don't need a dialog. Our law makers need to make reasonable policy. People like you make that impossible.
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
@Sourdad you explicitly stated it would be nice if we could have this debate. You assumption that people like me make that impossible is fundamentally inaccurate. I believe in the constitution and in the Will of the People. I am not a gun crazy right wing extremist. If the People wish to disarm the populace, it is within their rights to do so, and if the law is followed in making that change, I see no problem in turning in whatever guns I have.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
What about those people who live in places like Alaska, where a firearm is needed to defend their families against predators?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Sourdad I have cousins who live in Sitka, and have seen bears and wolves when I visit. I live in Florida, where the gators and crocks grow bigger than pick-up trucks. I keep a weapon handy here, to protect myself.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
@sunsporter1649 But it's not part of your emotional support system, is it? I have guns. I love my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44, but I don't worship it.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Sourdad I grew up with firearms, learned proper handling of firearms from an early age and during my service as a Marine. I am comfortable with them, own a long gun and a hand gun. Some people have autos, even though autos kill tens of thousands every year, because they are comfortable with the killer machines.
HerKing · 61-69, M
Depends which country you're talking about I guess.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
@HerKing This country, the US, my country.
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Sourdad Ahh I see,,'This' country..You didn't make it clear. Well the short answer is that 80-90 a day isn't enough, or a problem. Because if it was a problem something would be done about it..

The bad people would always find a way to arm themselves.

People would become a lot more creative, I suppose. Even those set on killing a bunch of innocent people.
I was just reading about other countries that have stabbings like we have gun murders
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Mondayschild Where did you read that?
SW-User
The Europeans would have never conquered the native Americans and stole their land.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
@SW-User That was germs, not guns.
SW-User
@Sourdad don't be daft.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
Can we at least take guns away from people like Waffle House guy?
U can kill a person with a pencil! Put it thru their eye into the brain!
HerKing · 61-69, M
@Shewolfiie69 True..but only one at a time..You'd need to be pretty stupid to watch one go down and wait for your turn.
Sourdad · 61-69, M
@Shewolfiie69 Knock yourself out trying to get a pencil into my eye.
USMCGUY · 46-50, M
Who needs a pencil?@Shewolfiie69
