What would it be like if no one had guns?

What would our country be like if none of had guns? Would the police need guns? I wonder. The military would be armed of course, but they're prohibited by law from interfering in civilian affairs. Hunters? Maybe something could be worked out -- black powder, bow and arrow, single shot shotgun? It would be nice it we could have this debate.

A revolver and double barrel shotgun is the most you could need to defend your home or your person. How safe do you need to feel? M203? Grenade? Don't trust the cops? This is why we need to have a conversation. Work out a compromise. Backgrounds checks, and keep firearms out of the hands of the unstable.

@Sourdad it isn't about defending yourself, that is where we get so much confusion on both sides. Its the defense of the State, of the People, by the People, for the People. Every able-bodied man should be prepared to fight and die to protect himself, his home, his family, and his country. Thats what its about. Not a book club to show off a fancy new rifle.

@Moosepantspatty Sounds like a lot of nothing to me.

@Sourdad than with all due respect sir, I would recommend that you once again read the documents signed to birth our country.

And may I remind you sir, you asked for a dialogue, which you have refused to engage in.

@Moosepantspatty I don't need a dialog. Our law makers need to make reasonable policy. People like you make that impossible.

@Sourdad you explicitly stated it would be nice if we could have this debate. You assumption that people like me make that impossible is fundamentally inaccurate. I believe in the constitution and in the Will of the People. I am not a gun crazy right wing extremist. If the People wish to disarm the populace, it is within their rights to do so, and if the law is followed in making that change, I see no problem in turning in whatever guns I have.
