Iran hangs two men for blasphemy
Reuters

DUBAI, May 8 (Reuters) - Iran has executed two people who had been sentenced to death for blasphemy, the judiciary's news website Mizan reported on Monday.

Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare were executed for crimes including blasphemy, insulting the religion of Islam, the prophet and other sanctities, Mizan reported. It did not say when they were executed.

The two were running dozens of online anti-religion platforms dedicated to the hatred of Islam, the promotion of atheism and insults to sanctities, Mizan reported.

U.N. experts have called on majority Shi'ite Muslim Iran to stop persecution and harassment of religious minorities pointing out an Iranian policy of targeting dissenting beliefs or religious practices, including Christian converts and atheists.

Iran's current state of hardline religious fundamentalism can be traced back to interference and regime change instigated by Britain and America in 1953. Iran was a moderate, progressive society until the West wrecked it all in order to maintain a cheap supply of Iranian oil. So the West bears significant responsibility in creating this insult to humanity that disgusts you so much.

@Rhode57 ...and I'll bet they've done some good things to. The point is, these countries are not to blame for Iran killing citizens for protesting.

@originnone Agreed about Iran but if you ever find anything good that US or UK have done let us know . I think they have done so much bad that any good they may have done wont make up for the bad .

@Rhode57 You're probably not looking at it objectively then. Certainly some bad but some good too....

@bijouxbroussard Oh, I think these people are a wacky as you do, but some ding dong proposing it and actually doing it are vastly different.
@originnone Before Roe was repealed I might’ve taken it less seriously. Not anymore.

Kay Ivey as Alabama’s second woman governor signed off on an anti-abortion law prohibiting abortion even in the case of rape or incest, even if the victim is a child. Ivey said to the media, "This demonstrates that Alabama values life."

When a reporter asked her about three convicts whose execution she’d also approved, her reply was,
"No comment." 😞

@bijouxbroussard.. I think people like Kay Ivy should be MADE to experience first hand
even in the case of rape or incest, even if the victim is a child.
what they are trying to make other people live by. Sound harsh? I don't think so. Because they will not learn until they experience what their beliefs and propaganda and laws have on other people's lives. A living hell.

I think the Islamic state is fast unravelling , and no amount of cruelty will dissuade its people from seeking an alternative.

I pray for tolerance 🙏
That's pretty conservative! Killing someone for their beliefs.
