But guns don’t kill people??

Shaveit · 61-69, M
Without firearms the US would still be under British rule. There are other countries that allow their citizens to own firearms. Yes the same ones that idiots in the US claim you can’t get in other countries. Some countries you don’t even need to be a citizen.
BUT, the law enforcement in other countries ENFORCE the laws on the books. They don’t make excuses for criminals. They remove them from the general population.
The second amendment allows you to have firearms to maintain a militia. To be able to maintain a militia. You must be able to maintain adequate firearms to be able to defend this country when needed.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Shaveit very few are talking about taking guns away. You just like to use the extreme scenario to fuel the fire!
Shaveit · 61-69, M
@Handfull1 Not fueling the fire at all, simply stating facts BUT, the fire NEEDS fueling.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
The leftovers have been trying for years people kill people it doesn't matter what method they use remember the guy that took his car and ran over a Christmas Parade??? Where is the discussion on that??
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@fortycreek You missed the point and you missed puting the "v" in solve... Guns don't go out and look for people to kill,,,, crazy people do.... I have a gun to protect my family from the crazy people. You should do the same...
fortycreek · M
@masterofyou lol i miss letters all the time
masterofyou · 70-79, M
@fortycreek You also miss the point too most of the crazies will go to everything to find a weapon to do harm to people that cannot defend themselves and the government wants to to take away our rights to defend ourselves and family. And the left would just love to take our rights to bare arms to take our freedoms away too...
redredred · M
@Handfull1 So you don’t want to take away ALL guns. Which ones do you want to take away? Why those? Do you really think a person intent on mass murder can’t do so with a revolver or a duck hunting shotgun or a lever action rifle?

The three largest mass murders in US history, 9/11, OKC Bombing and the Happyland Social club arson didn’t involve guns. The largest school massacre was committed with explosives.

It’s political drivel to blame an inanimate object for societal breakdown.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@redredred yep, every day!!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Handfull1 what you may be missing is that Trump has had death threats and the Secret Service would take similar steps to protect whoever would be president or past president.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Heartlander this is an old post. I don’t even know why it comes up. I didn’t miss that point. Trump was never like any past or present President! He made sure of that!
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
Here in the USA Today it's nearly 100% illegal to shoot someone. If you're inside your home and shoot an intruder dead (in some areas) or you shoot someone that is trespassing on your property (as long as it's posted No Trespassing) it is considered justifiable self-defense. Everyone knows this. Problem is that there is a slim minority on the political left that says it's our access to Guns is at fault and wants them banned. The Media is also at fault here because they are pandering their 'News' to this slim minority by sensationalizing their claims. They are demanding a ban on 'Assault Weapons' without even acknowledging what their description of these weapons really are. Now since I'm very knowledgeable about what an Assault Weapon is (as well as the majority of Americans), when I hear them say that they want to ban military assault weapons, I actually hear them saying that they want to ban Every Gun that has been used since the Chinese invented guns back before 1000AD.
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@wildbill83 actually, to be honest, the most powerful assault weapon that you can ever have is the one that resides in your skull.
SW-User
@Midlifemale Both angles need to be taken. You are right about teaching and caring for them better. But guns are too easy to get in America. Like it or not, that is the other part of the problem. Other countries don’t have anywhere near as many children dying to guns because they have much stricter gun laws. This is fact.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Midlifemale ive said this.
Phoenix · 36-40, M
Trump also thought weapons could not harm him:
“I don't effing care that they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me. Take the effing mags away. Let my people in, they can march to the Capitol from here. Let the people in. Take the effing mags [metal detector portals] away.”
- testimony during the January 6th committee.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Phoenix And, of course, you couldn't have taken a bigger bite out of that shit sandwich.

No surprise
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Slade you believe what you want to believe!!
Phoenix · 36-40, M
@Handfull1 The Internet is based on the first amendment!
(and lots of porn, cat memes and porn).
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
In Talking to Strangers Malcolm Gladwell talks about the "coupling" phenomenon in both suicide and violent crime. An overwhelming majority of both are tied to specific locations/opportunities. If the suicidal don't have access to their method of choice, suicide rates plummet. Case study on point is when Great Britain converted from Town Gas that had lethal amounts of carbon monoxide to natural gas that did not, suicide among women (where gas tended to be the preferred method of suicide) plummeted. Suicides by men are extremely lower in countries where guns are not as readily available as in the U.S. Put up barricades on bridges and suicide rates drop -- they don't tend to just use a different method.

Same with violent crime neighborhoods. Disrupt those neighborhoods, confiscate the guns, and violent crime goes down rather than seeking new locations.
maturemuff61 · 61-69, F
I was once asked what the most powerful gun in the world was after I had named off several different calibers I was told no to each of them the correct answer was the one that was aimed directly at me
dakotaviper · 56-60, M
@maturemuff61 The one that is pointed at you is the correct answer.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Here's my solution....

Lets forbid firearm ownership and anti-firearm rhetoric from those who know absolutely nothing about them. It stands to reason that if you use something, or complain about it, you should at least know what it's capable of (or isn't capable of). A basic knowledge quiz/test would prevent the crazies from being able to buy one (legally anyways), and would clear up most of the rumors/hearsay spread about them. 🤔
Phoenix · 36-40, M
@wildbill83 (how your username exactly predict your opinion is comical 😆)

By the same token, let's prevent people who don't believe in vaccine from accessing any kind of modern medicine.

Your argument only works if there is a secession and we create hermetically-close worlds.

You know, like your mind.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Phoenix no where near as comical as your empty profile
Phoenix · 36-40, M
First, an empty profile is so common here, I don't know what you're laughing about except at yourself.
Second, put on some glasses or learn to read... I have an intro and an about me so you all you did was make more people question your sanity.

Bottom line, your ad hominem doesn't even take off the ground, your arguments are... an insult to arguments and I'm not longer wasting my time with you but thanks for reminding me that your mentality is going extinct.
masterofyou · 70-79, M
People kill people, you can take all the guns away and people will find away.....😔
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Phoenix unfortunately mindset has to be changed before government.
Phoenix · 36-40, M
@Handfull1 that’s why I know it will take time. It’s rare for legislators to be ahead of their time without running into status quo frictions.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Handfull1
Guns are not a toy. We have more regulations on toys!!

That may easily go down as the stupidest thing ever said 🤮
Northwest · M
I'm just wondering, when did Trump add guns to his list of ED drugs?
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Northwest well IT won’t work during his speech!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Well if Trump was packing heat and everyone else for that matter, they can protect themselves! Have a good old America shoot out!
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@dancingtongue contradictions in agendas all the time!
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@JimboSaturn @Handfull1 Yep, it will be a shoot out, old west style. I keep hearing people say that if people carry, there will be shoot-outs all over the place. Concealed carry really started gaining momentum in the 1970s, Georgia passed a concealed carry law in 1976. Other states followed. We see criminals and people with mental issues shooting unarmed victims. But no repeat of the shootout at the OK Corral. Fifty years of concealed carry with no permitted carry holders involved in non justified use of a firearm. Citizens fought for the right to carry concealed because of the rising crime. I would like to see criminals disarmed as a person who enjoys shooting legally acquired firearms as a hobby. Disarming me isn't going to do anything to disarm a criminal though. Take a trip to Mexico and see what a disarmed population has to do to survive. The criminals are running around with full auto AK-47, if the government or police challenge them, they just kill whoever gets in their way. And Mexico isn't the only place where this has happened when citizens are disarmed. Germany, Cambodia, Russia, every place it has happened has had the same results.

Guns are inanimate object just like a rock, hammer, knife and a car with a driver texting and driving until they start it up and get it motion. Let me guess, you text while driving or use your phone while driving. You are just like a loaded gun in the hands of a nut case then that can kill a person just the same as those with a gun.

@homespun2 don’t need to talk on the phone either when you’re driving
Shaveit · 61-69, M
@Phoenix you can kill a dozen people with a car in less than 10 seconds
maturemuff61 · 61-69, F

Hypocrites. Cowards.

Its Sleepy Joe that NEEDS to be in a gun-less area.
I'm shot that he hadn't already been shocked.

@TH3S10GUY1 it means nothing.
TH3S10GUY1 · M
@Handfull1 you dont believe in "a man's word" & the power of a handshake ?
I understand your NOT understanding.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@TH3S10GUY1 if man’s word meant anything, Thou shalt not lie wouldn’t need to be in the Commandments.
Shaveit · 61-69, M
That is NOT the NRAs rule. It’s a Secret Service rule. Duh

Correct.. liberal loonies on psych and sex drugs kill ppl.
With guns
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you and Slade are a little slow to the trigger!
carpediem · 61-69, M
I keep my guns locked up so the little bastards don't organize and ambush me.
homespun2 · 70-79, M
to bad thats because they were afraid somebody might shoot him.
Well.. i mean.. its not smart to allow a high value target AND a bunch of unknown armed strangers in the same arena together at the same time.. that is just standard procedure because people are unpredictable.. not because guns are unpredictable..
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@TruthGate did I miss the high value target?? 😂😂
@Handfull1 lol well.. they are still alive so i would venture to say yes.. you missed lol
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Great awareness. Do politicians deserve greater protection than the rest of us? Whether we're talking about fences or firearms?

My common sense feeling is that it depends on the level of threats, or the assessment thereof.
TH3S10GUY1 · M
Absolutey NO gun harmed anything or anyone.
Its the placement OF a bullet BY someone MEANING to place the bullet/bullets where he/she intents.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@TH3S10GUY1 then why won’t they let guns in when Trump speaks?? It shouldn’t even be an issue.
TH3S10GUY1 · M
@Handfull1 I dont have an answer.... I'm still trying to understand how I have to take a piss-test in person with identification instead of mailing in my urine sample.
Slade · 56-60, M
Of course not. With all you moonbats looking to sneak in it would AOC style idiocy to allow guns in.

Plus it's a private event so STFU
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@Slade added to the list of missing the point!
Slade · 56-60, M
@Handfull1 The one on top of your head obtuseman
Slade · 56-60, M
Is this supposed to be the ultimate "own"

Sad, childish, stupid
Slade · 56-60, M
This might be the saddest ever attempt at an own 🤮
It’s a free country as long as you pay
masterofyou · 70-79, M
Only when people pull the trigger....
That is very interesting, indeed. This is the NRA convention. Where Trump is presumably among friends ?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
It's the. Irrational mindset and volatile atmosphere that pulls the trigger on these guns.
It was the right choice. 🙂

Yes, guns don't kill people and neither do abortions. It is people who kill people. There is no need to ban abortions.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@SW-User a very odd statement!!
SW-User
@Handfull1 My point is that consistency would be nice from those who advocate that guns don't kill people.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@SW-User unfortunately there is no consistency of any kind! Ugh!!
