The Supreme Court Rules that Trump stays in the primary Ballot

Thank goodness for that. A was afraid there for a minute that they wouls kick him out and some other nonimees would get back into the race. Democrats would hate that..😷

I guess now Trump will have to stop claiming that the American legal system is hopelessly corrupt, conflicted and rigged against him. Cheers!
justanothername · 51-55, M
@Nanoose it’s so rigged against him… oh wait…

@Nanoose he won't. He'll act like he made them do that or think they are loyal to him. Maybe so maybe no. He's responsible for a third of them. I sorta figured it would go that way . So counting Clarence's vote he owns 4 out of nine it seems and the 5th and 6th are more than a flip of the coin predictable.
Nikki Haley has a much better chance of beating Biden than Trump does. However, insurrectionists should not be allowed to participate in the democratic process. Plus, Trump can easily still win.

@BohemianBoo Don't confuse cult popularity for power, he's a failure and all of America, other than his very limited cult know as well. He's barely a viable threat at this point and he's only going southward.

His mind is failing fast. Srsly.

@Ynotisay I would say that because it is happening and it will continue. In fact China took an early run at it just as covid started. But the wholw thing was put on the backburner becayse the whole world went into freefall as trade ground to a halt.. So here is the background. After WW2 America basically ruled the western world, where all the money was. And all the redevelopment was happening. And the $US was pegged to the gold standard. So a dollar was literally as good as gold. Therefore the logical vehicle for all payments. They could have used the Pound Sterling as they did berore the war. But Britain was an economic basket case and had its industry either shattered or chained to war production and would take time to come back...
This ticked over nicely as rock and roll emerged and American global consumer influence grew.. Space race, Moon landings.. Its all America..Including setting up a western style puppet here and there where the place had oil of something America needed..But thats by the by..
So Nixon gets the nation into a budget crisis over Vietnam and decides to abandon the gold standard, because ther simply wasnt enough gold to cover the $ he needed. No one blinks. America was still the powerhouse it always was and the global Sheriff..So we get to Reagan and financial deregulation. The banks can get creative over how they mke money and in effect can deal seconds and hold an ace up their sleeve..And they do, Turning the futures exchange into a second financial market for speculating in money itself as if its a commodity. (Watch "Trading places" you will get it.) All the time, the thing that made America great, American industry, is falling behind because the share price and return is becoming more important than the actual product and growth.. At this point G.E started making more money out of its financial business than its products..
So the Europeans innovated and the Japanese mass produced quality and America lost market share. Overseas and then at home..
America did a deal with the OPEC arabs to create the "Petrodollar" because people were noticing he shine was off the value of the $ and questioning whether something else would be better.. And that helpe weather the first Global financial crisis where America tried and partly succeeded in selling its crap debt to other countries.. But since then the questions are being asked again, because American financial institutions havent learned a thing and are settling up for a second crisis.. And the Chinese and now the powerhouse America used to be. And they have created their own subnetwork that trades in their Yuan. Its amll, but it exists. And if you want for sell to China, the best deal is done in Yuan. And they are talking with the Saudis over this.. And about formally rdismantling the Petrodollar as a way of influencing US trade and policy..
So thats where I get it from..😷

@sunsporter1649 I don't like Clinton either, but she'd make a nice threesome with Donny and Vlad.
Justice4All · 36-40, M
Right decision! Colorado's ban was unprecedented and illegal. Democrats only respect the courts when it favors their agenda. Many have already accused the SCOTUS of being politically biased.
Justice4All · 36-40, M
@bijouxbroussard Both parties are hellbent on politicizing the Supreme Court, ultimately undermining its credibility. The Democrats have advocated for expanding the Supreme Court solely to secure a ruling majority. What value does a court hold if its decisions are driven more by partisan agendas than constitutional interpretation?

In all fairness, the role of the Supreme Court is to interpret the Constitution and determine if laws and government policies adhere to what's written therein. Deciding whether states can restrict abortions extends beyond the intended scope of the Court's responsibilities.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Justice4All In my view entry to the supreme court should be a non political process. Judged by independent Legal panels on their legal record of performance..😷
@Justice4All Occasionally the Supreme Court has ruled on "the side of the angels", Brown v. Board of Education, Loving v. Virginia, Gamer v. Louisiana, and yet they were also considered "political" decisions, even though their goal was equal civil rights which were previously being denied. Stacking the court in order to deny civil rights or suppress voters’ right would be unconstitutional.
Yup, he can gush about a big win but this is the equivalent of his delay, delay, delay tactics. What's going to happen when he goes broke in a few weeks? Will the Maggots notice that? What about when his campaign money has been all used up on lawyers?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Pitchblue He is currently doing his best to screw over both sides of his "Truth Social" sale, so badly that both sides are suing him..He has tried to alter the terms of the sale to net himself a extra few billion he pulled out of thin air by changing the valuation of the business, which so far has produced nothing but debt, while quietly adding close to a billion extra shares into the "merger" to dilute the investment of all his original stakeholders. Trump being the only one who, although holding a vast majority, never actually had to put up money..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Never had to do anything. He's screwing the very people who made the site. He just can't resist skrewing people over. He owes around half a billion but still sctews with the valuation of the site. It's total insanity.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Pitchblue Its classic Trump. The people are just sheep for him to fleece. Its how he was raised..😷

I'm glad Dumpster Don is on the ballot. This assures a loss for the GOP 😃

They punted to Congress. They weren't going to rule on what an insurrection is or isn't. At least not this Supreme Court.

Wow. Talk about obsession with a country 10,000 miles away. You ought to be more concerned with the Australian police state.

@sunsporter1649 Trump can't speak coherently, but Biden looks weird when he stares. So yeah, that's the same.
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
That is not what the supreme court ruled. Read it again. They basically said it is not up to them to decide, it is up to Congress, and that is the end of it.
22Michelle · 61-69, T
@JamesBugman Looks like they chickened out, and so will Congress. Having read the amendment it says its up to Congress and the House to vote by two thirds majority to allow Trump, who has been accused of insurrection, on the ballot. Amusing as ever though to hear those who otherwise see the Constitution as holy writ turning somersaults to ignore what is written.
I'm not saying they're wrong, but unless the Congress can pass laws, it's up to the court, every time. Congress ain't going there.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Roundandroundwego And of course, the congress will pass laws every time for the good of the people..😷
Puppycat23 · F
Would be pretty funny if he ends up losing to Niki Haley in Colorado though
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Colorado must be taking a page from this playbook.
Ontheroad · M
I sort of hate to agree with their decision, but yes, Congress needs to make the decision.
22Michelle · 61-69, T
@Ontheroad Their right it's a decision for Congress, and the House, but that's what the 14th amendment states. Where their wrong, deliberately wrong for political reasons, is that Trump is free to run for President. As per the 14th Congress and the House must clear him to run, by a two thirds majority.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
the courts especially at the lower levels are guided by the jurists political persuasion. scary times we live in

@MarmeeMarch I agree, so far he isnt.. However I think we can agree that at the time it was written, the Constition presumed that any person you stood for President would be a "Gentleman" as defined by the day,, Its the times that have changed..😷

@MarmeeMarch I get it. But does one bad act tarnish a whole man? I wont defend slave owning or thft or murder or any crime or sin.But Washington Jefferson and the others shaped a great nation in spite of having some serious flaws.. It really is the case that "The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones." We are having people vandalise statues of Captain James Cook. In the name of Aboriginal rights here. Should his achievements be tarnished because of some of the fallout? Like there would have been a better outcome under the Portuguese, or French? The Dutch already having written the whole continent off as worthless.😷
