I prefer English. So I can understand what's happening when I'm watching reruns, and playing on my phone

@MalteseFalconPunch Sean Schemmel fits Goku’s looks much better than Masako Nozawa (a woman).

@MalteseFalconPunch i think part of that issue is the limited pool of voice actors that do anime dubs. It's been getting better lately. But in the late 90s and the early aughts half the voice actors were the same in pretty much every dub.

Some Japanese videogames are funny. Especially final fantasy 7 remake when Madam M swears

Anime is dumb🥴

@ImRileyTheDog Are you saying that because you are Chinese originally or because you are a Doggo 🐶?

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether I’m speaking the truth🤭
I’m a bad Asian as many people on here know
I hate anime, green tea, and sushi

I prefer English-dubbed, mostly because my eyesight isn’t what it used to be, and there are specific voice actors in the genre whom I like. However, many in the know tell me I am "wrong" for that preference. 😅

@bijouxbroussard sometimes i feel there are things lost in translation to make a dub "fit" the animation, but it's not significant enough that I'd say it's wrong.
As an example, in one show these baddies wanted a woman to come with them and took her son hostage to convince her. In the dub, she said "Don't hurt him, I'll do anything" whereas in the subtitles the translation was "If you hurt him I'll bite off my own tongue and bleed to death." To me that's a pretty notable difference in tone, but as far as ultimate story progression it does not change much.

I'll watch in whatever is available/on. If it's my call and i have the option I watch Japanese with English subtitles. I am not a purist and don't give anyone grief for their preferences though.
