@meJess Thank you.

Like - when no comparison is involved. ("I was like nineteen... " Only "like" nineteen? Strangely enough, everyone aged twenty and over was nineteen, and definitely so, not as if that age.)

Committed (as in "we are committed to [some action]" - my response being, "Right, when are you going to start doing it?")

Iconic - merely the critic's favourite, or gushing praise by commission, even if inversely proportional to objective quality.

Best [of] - by the user's judgement, but by what criteria?

Exciting - when used by property-developers. No it isn't. It's an ostentiously ugly, over-priced block of flats.

@JimboSaturn Like...duh. 🙄

@ArishMell You list some good examples.

Literally really bugs me. Now it is used to mean figuratively; a complete opposite use. A user here told me it's also used as emphasis.

"she literally tore my heart out" No she didn't, she figuratively tore your heart out; you're still alive aren't ya?
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@JimboSaturn That's funny.

"low key" is starting to get on my nerves. Low key everything. "I'm low key excited for the weekend" How about "midly"? Why use two words when one will suffice.

Another bulky language expression, "jump scared". How about startled?

Our language is getting weak.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@JimboSaturn Agreed.
these days "diabolical"
Also "stunning" so tired of people using it for every average run of the mill thing. I guess a lot of people are really easily impressed.

JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@emmasfriend Yes Canadian politicians like "at pace"
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@emmasfriend Thank you.
Getting control of the "narrative".
