I am told that my spoken English is like received pronunciation but with French undertones.
I imagine it owes much to Mlle Dubois who taught English at my school.

Not intentionally !
This a judgement to be made by others, as is the perception of one's accent.
Concerning accents:
When I was staying at my uncle's house in Provence, I found the local accent difficult to understand and needed to listen carefully.
Daniel, the owner of the garden business, whose men brought a tractor to cut the grass in the paddock, had a different accent from other locals.
I asked a neighbour where he was from.
"Sais pas. Du nord." was the reply [Don't know. From the north]
I thought "Calais?"
It transpired that he was born in a village some 40 - 50 km to the north.
Different accent there !
