I'd been feeling a bit down recently and when I told my friend he said "Cheer up, it could be worse..

You could be stuck underground in a hole full of water."

I know he means well.

These days, there wouldn't be enough time to give someone a full and frank answer to the question, 'How are you?' So I stick to a two minute summary without illustrations and invite them if they'd like to ask further questions before they offer me gratuitous medical advice on what their granny did when she had the same problems 😂.

This is why I never know what to reply to "how are you?" when I feel down" 😆

Wow. That sounds like something I would say... you know, to lighten the mood.

Instead of "It could be worse" I would have said "bear with it, Better days ahead"
Yeah...you should have told him that "Cheer up" never really cheered anybody up.
Not all underground holes that have water in them, are wells, though...
