In The Future Public Schools Have Mostly Been Replaced With Local Private Schools With Emphasis On Life Skills….

Parents and locals are asked to teach life skills as guest teachers. As a matter of honor most would accept the challenge. What life skills could you teach?
I would teach about health promotion and prevention. I could teach about gardening and growing vegetables. Also about managing stress; being happy in life; and relationships.

@PoetryNEmotion You know that is what makes learning so fun when you throw in things like that to break up the monotony. What made Oklahoma history a lot more interesting was one of the students was Comanche. He didn’t do well at all on tests but he added so much to every conversation he engaged in, and it was often…it was fascinating to listen to him. I’m sure that what he was speaking about was handed down in oral history by the elders of his clan. It would have been excellent if an elder had come and spoke for a class.

@PoetryNEmotion Imagine having a home ec class and someone who excelled at barbecue came in and taught a class, like a special one on a Saturday for extra credit, plus you get a barbecue dinner and all the fixins.

Our kids started their school lives in Montessori programs. Then went on to parochial and/or private schools. Both of which our area has excellent choices. Life skills taught in Montessori are the skills that can propel one through life. Life skills about politeness, how to have 2 way conversations, learning to be helpful and accommodating with others, learning to complete task, and learning through interaction rather than being told what to do and not do. And learning self worth and that everyone learns at a different pace. Learn to be helpful and seek help are important life lessons because we are all members of society and are members of families, neighborhoods, workplaces, etc.
They are no longer institutes of learning.
Their liberal brainwashing sheds.

‘We dont teach you HOW to think,
we teach you WHAT to think!

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That is exactly why parents are opting for smaller private schools now. Imagine the future scenario after the dust settles. What skills would you have to offer?
@cherokeepatti how long before they ban home schooloing. claiming its child abuse. and threats of custody removal,
chasing the kiidies right back into the states arms?.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout They won’t here in Oklahoma. Have had some National Merit Scholars that were home schooled including one in this city. That’s a big deal

Public schools simply are not an option anymore, grooming children with inappropriate sexual content. Glad my kids are out or we'd have to home-school.

@graphite I am talking about forming school coops with parents involved and volunteering sharing life skills in addition to the basic subjects
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
Automotive care and diagnosis
Or
Firearm safety maintenance and self defense
Unfortunately i don't have the qualifications to be a teacher at any level. And those are 2 subjects no school in my area will actually teach.
This is a great hypothetical being proposed and honestly i love the idea.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Ozuye502 You would need to be certified to teach that but had a brother in law that did it for a non school class in the 70’s. He was a deer hunter
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
@cherokeepatti certified mechanic
Range master and gun smith
But to become a certified teacher where i live is extremely difficult. Actually its the only state where a teaching certification is accepted basically nationwide.
I do teach the firearm stuff at my friend's range

@Ozuye502 talking about guest teaching a class with a subject you are specialized in. Don’t have to be a certified teacher for that. They do at a small private school here where the boy attended for 3 years. Parents and others would be invited to share their knowledge. I believe I heard of a school in Florida that had a gun safety class. It could be an elective, nobody forced to attend it.

That sounds like a good idea. I wish I could've learned life skills in school, like managing finances especially
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@caPnAhab Dotou have anything to offer? Doesn’t have to be multiple classes. Could be a guest teacher for a day if you have something to share that the students could use in life
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@cherokeepatti hmmm... I memorized where all the fruit bearing trees in my area are. I'm not a good teacher.

But if I taught anything, maybe Botany and identifying plants. That's the best life skill I can offer
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@caPnAhab Excellent
originnone · 61-69, M
I'm not particularly skilled at life.
