An SW User's Identity

Several times, I've seen on someone's profile, "X This account has received several reports regarding its identity. Please use caution when communicating with this user."

Are there things in particular which inform people this is true about someone?
What are the signs?

Well a 'friend' of mine has one after I reported all hus pics had been whipped from someone elses Instagram.
He was using the same first name of this other guy and shared pics of this guys family saying they were his family.
The warning appeared when i reported him, but i dont know it he'd been reported by others too...or just me

Yikes. I would hope/think it would take legitimate reports and evidence before that happened, as it could be false accusations or a way to ruin someone's reputation. Partly I guess it could be if they are "claiming" pictures are them that are proven not to be.

@Magenta i was able to prove the person here had used someone elses pics. I spoke at length with the real owner of the pics and was satisfied they were not the person ( i thought) i knew here.
I had that persons permission to send the link to his insta account to SW admin. Thats when the warning appeared on the account.

@RubySoo I'm glad you were able to actual prove it versus just accusations. 💟

@Magenta my friend sent me dozens of pics over years, some he posted publically here and many more he sent me in pms. I didnt doubt they were him. Pics of his mum, friends weddings, even from a school trip as a teen.
We had a mutual friend here who had met him a number of times in RL. She sent me a pic of him and his then gf. I dont really know why i didntbimage search ealier. I didnt doubt him i guess. Then, one day after not hearing from him for a couple of months, i did a screen shot of one of his pics......and there he was....in numerous places online. From ready some of the articles I found his Insta account. I looked at the pics, almost all the pics my friend sent me were there....but tagged with different names to what my friend told me. And the pic the friend sent of he and his gf was there, except she was his sister! I nessaged Insta guy and he was gracious in that he spoke with me. It was clear he didnt know me, he'd never heard of our mutual friend and didnt know about similar worlds.
It also lead me to believe my two friends were either in kahoots fool peeps, or....more likely, actually the same person, since they both lifted pics from the same insta account.

I told SW my findings. They asked for the emails i had for my friends and links to the insta account. I did ask admin if they were able to tell me if the accounts were linked or if they could tell if they were from the same IP address, but they declined to tell me that info.

LIKE?? Someone reports someone, making claims, enough pile up ...I've seen strange warnings of late including,Stop communicating with this member,on PM

The whole situation gets Kafka-esque

@PhoenixPhail It also depends on a persons reputation score here. How long they have been a member and the amount and type of reports against them.

@Magenta It would be helpful if Admin were to let the user know that there have been reports on them, and to tell them know what kind of reports. Sometimes, people don't know they're doing anything wrong because there's never any word from the user they've been talking with, or from Admin, that anything is out of place. Why wait until the bottom falls out instead of taking a stitch in time to save nine, as it were?

i haven't seen that yet.

Ya I have no idea about that, people complaining to admin?
Admin are good at protecting us from such people. If they feel this is warranted and the member concerned has chosen not to verify themselves - then, is it really my place to say "Hey, admin, you are wrong!!!".

A lot of account identity issues are easily cleared up by being verified and you don't have to leave your mugshot visible to the whole site if you decide that this is not for you later.

If you don't want to verify, then the banner is a small price to pay - after all, all actions have consequences.
Isnt that profiles with the ⚠️ ?
@checkoutanytime I don't remember seeing that.

I've never seen that message. I don't look at profiles unless someone wants to follow me, most of those followers have very nasty photos of their privates, but no messages...🤣🤣🤣

It’s easy to prove when the pictures are stolen. I have found a lot of people stealing pictures from Instagram accounts.

When I find the pictures I will go and message the Instagram account and ask if they have an account on SW. They never do so I submit that as proof when I report them.

Also if pictures are taken from an online porn album chances are that they are stolen.

@iamonfire696 thats what i have done too.

@Lilnonames Lol, right? Someone could report you for not being the doll you claim you are. 😄
@Magenta And Admin just takes that report as factual, and responds to it accordingly.
