A letter from John Steinbeck to Marilyn Monroe

Lostpoet · M
How do we know that's not little Jon pretending to be his uncle John so that he can get a risque photograph of Marilyn Monroe 🧐

But I loved this either way.
Lostpoet · M
@DrWatson Do you think Steinbeck made up a little Jon just to get Monroe's signature?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet No. It sounds as if they knew each other, and he seems far from being star struck. What he says about body functions is hilarious.

And Jon is real. He was interviewed about this. See my other responses here.
Lostpoet · M
@DrWatson You know I only read my own stuff.
Ha ha ha!
It's easy to see why Steinbeck was so lauded as a writer,
so much depth of perception, wit and nous.
Thank you for sharing it.

I'd be curious to know more about you, Dr Watson.

@hartfire You are quite welcome.

Feel free to stalk my posts and replies to find out more about me!
@DrWatson Will do! :)

I love Steinbeck! Have you read the East Of Eden Letters which he wrote to his editor Pascal Covici as he was working on the novel? Brilliant stuff.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@ArtieKat No I am not aware of those.

I have read many of his novels, and I think he is brilliant.

How cute is that

I'm a huge MM fan, not so much the attress, but the poet and book lover that few realize, so I love this!✨

From the 2nd paragraph on, damn he covered all the bases and oh so comedic!🤭🤭

No wonder he won Nobel prize for literature. I am sure this request was honored.
Piper · 61-69, F
I really enjoyed reading that...thank you for sharing it. Disappointing though, that Marilyn never got around to granting the request of such a charming and amusing letter.
Ynotisay · M
Oh that's too cool. I wonder if she sent it?
WillaKissing · 56-60
Did she send one of her and John F. Kennedy? Oops!

John Steinbeck was a great writer. Hemmingway was "the man" in his day though!
awesome sauce
(See? I can write as gooder as Mr Steinbeck)
Wow, a fan letter by Steinbeck ! Wonder if she replied ?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard I did some searching online after I found this letter on Facebook. The letter was found among Marilyn Monroe's possessions after she died. Little Jon , now retired, was located and he said he never received a picture from her.
@DrWatson Oh ! That’s a pity.
