@UBotMate Ours are often Sharma Dawalli, regardless of the race, they seem douchee to me lol

I once posted my neighbor’s house on Marketplace. Just trying to help the spam bots diversify their options.
Also I gotta say, you’re really pulling off those yellow suit shorts. 👀

If you want to get off of their list, don’t respond. I just received an unsigned check with a very large number on it for my place. All I have to do is let them come over to inspect it and theyll sign the check. That was a new approach I hadn’t seen.
Unfortunately the check got torn and ended up covered in coffee grounds.

joe438 · 61-69, M
@ArishMell if I had to guess, I’d say it was probably legitimate, and when they came to do the appraisal, they would offer me less than the check was written for. I suspect the check was merely an advertisement of their interest.
People do steal titles. If you contact any of these people making offers, you will end up giving them some information which potentially could give them away to steal your title. You’re right-don’t talk to them at all.

GOSH DARN the bad luck! 😡 I hope they were at least grounds from a good coffee brand!
I guess it could have been worse. What if it accidentally got dropped in a shredder?

Yeah it is tempting to give these people h3ll, especially unsolicited calls BUT, what one really does is verify they have a legit contact.

I don't, but do receive flyers from estate-agents and valuers who seem to think I might want to sell my home. Those are all genuine companies though, not fraudulent ones.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
No but we have always got them in the mail or sometimes I’ll even see Facebook ads about how much our house “might” be worth and to sell now 😅😅
Also does anybody ever get mail from people wanting to buy their house? I assume those are scams too right?

ShepherdBard · 31-35, M
@TurtlePink I’d assume the best case scenario for any of those would be them offering well under what the house is worth
Punches · 46-50, F
@TurtlePink Mail? Oh yeah that happens all the time. After a while, you can immediately tell what it is with practically no clues.
If the first word in the letter is "I" or "We", I read no further and it goes in the circular bin.
@ShepherdBard Even when they put an offer on those mailings, they would probably try to lowball later.

We get actual phone calls. I don`t think my landlord would appreciate me selling.
DragonFruit · 70-79, M
Yes, I get them about the house I sold last year and sbout the condo I bought last year.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
I get them occasionally about a property I sold back in 2023.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
You will receive my text....you pay extra for rent and I go on vacation
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I have gotten snail mail and phone calls.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
Not texts, but I get an awful lot of flyers from realtors and they even come to my door asking if I want to sell my house. Annoying af
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Every day we get notices in our letterbox, saying we have buyers looking to purchase
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nedkelly I have read an article about who is behind this. Huge groups like Black Rock wanting to buy up properties and remodel them and increase the property value so they can be rented out. Believe this is one reason for the inflation in the housing market.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I occasionally get them at my door.

Now they are texting?
I do not get those, but do get those cards in the mail about that.
@JimboSaturn It should p*ss us off! Like yeah, someone sells their house, where they gonna live? Some cr4ppy apartment til the money runs out?

@MsSwan That is good. Thing is, those real estate investors who want to buy people's houses, my understanding is they tend to lowball.
I mean if someone sells their house through a realtor or whatever, yeah they can probably get a decent amount but those random companies offering to buy (even though a property is not on the market) they won't offer jack.

Adrift · 61-69, F
I just tell them that I can't sell my house because I would have to find a new place to hide the bodies.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I get lots of Spam emails about selling my house. I've never owned a house.
jackrabbit10 · M
get that quite often,,,,I WANT TO BUY YOUR PROPERTY ,
Punches · 46-50, F
@jackrabbit10 Tell them to "Want" in one hand and sh*t in the other and see which fills up faster.
jackrabbit10 · M
@Punches lol, one way to get rid of them
Kiesel · 56-60, M
Quite often
Confined · 56-60, M
Calls and snail mail, and even emails.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
All the damn time, offers in the mail and phone calls too. Yeah give them an exorbitant amount that you want. They are trying to scoop up the cheaper properties & remodel them and sell them for a fortune. Eventually planning on having more rentals than homes & gouging people for what all they can in rents.
BrandNewMan · M
Send 'em my way .. looking to downsize outta this place
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
Sometimes I forget that other places in the country a half a million isn’t just a down payment on a house 😂
You own a house :o
ShepherdBard · 31-35, M
@TryingtoLava 👀
exexec · 70-79, C
Texts and snail mail.
Cigarguy101 · 41-45, M
Yes and we haven't officially taken ownership of it yet lol
Punches · 46-50, F
So to whoever - who do these companies normally target for that? Is it like certain areas, houses that are older and/or maybe not worth a lot, or do they just send those out to literally anyone?
Like whether you own a shack in the middle of Kansas or a mansion in Beverly Hills?

Punches · 46-50, F
@JimboSaturn You could politely say, "Sure, my realtor would contact you". Of course a realtor would not begin to entertain their p*ss poor offers.
@MsSwan These companies must think EVERYone is in the situation you stated above. And yeah, "unload" is probably the right word in such a case. I have never sold a house but I heard the process of doing it through traditional methods is a long and expensive process so who knows.
I wonder how long these companies have been around? Have you ever seen Back to the Future part 2? (mid 80's) When I was a kid and it came out, I wondered what the heck that guy meant by, "Tell that real estate sucka we ain't sellin'!"
I know NOW of course.

YoMomma ·
They send us snail mail with checks wanting our house 😅

Demand the full million just to visit with you.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@nonsensiclesnail A million is the normal price of a house nowadays in Canada
nonsensiclesnail · F
@JimboSaturn Seems to be in a lot of places these days. So, a million for just a visit feels like a good move.

@BittersweetPotato you may be onto something 🤔
aboveaverageaveragejoe · 51-55, M
@BittersweetPotato there's nothing to brag about being a home owner. Property taxes, insurance, gas, electric, yard work, decorating, plumbing repairs, ac repairs, washer, dryer, fridge repairs, it's a money pit.
BittersweetPotato · 31-35, F
@aboveaverageaveragejoe Having a place to live, you forgot that one!
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
I get junk mail about that all the time.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
SPAM, post cards, letters, phone calls .. seemingly endless offers.
Tell them it's not a house... it's a two man tent.
