AbbeyRhode · F
I agree with just about all of those. But why no antique furniture?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbeyRhode This boy just flops down hard on chairs etc He would break antique furniture. Had a neighbor in the 70’s that had those vintage kitchen chairs that would come with a chrome top table. Someone gave them to her. A guy who was large and tall rented a little rent house next door and they told him he could eat dinner with them as part of the deal. One by one he broke all of those chairs. I want things that are sturdy
PatKirby · M
@cherokeepatti

Exactly. Girlfriend put an antique rocking chair in the living room all nice looking and decorated and guess what? Yep, someone sat in it and sure enough it broke. She screamed to high heaven all surprised 😳 shocking! Not doing that again.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PatKirby yep I don’t need the stress of that.
4meAndyou · F
I looove antiques, but I don't want to live with them. And that goes for furniture, too. 🤣🤣🤣
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I don’t mind some small things but not a lot. I have been in homes with quite a bit of antiques for decor and it was an early American home, really beautiful the way that lady had it decorated with all sorts of things. Her home was much larger so she had space for all of that. But not for me
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti I tend to feel depressed in rooms with lots of dark colors, and antique furniture is made of wood, which is typically dark, or darker in shade than I can deal with on a day to day basis. I don't even like my dark TV screen.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I am the same way. I don’t like a dark home. If given the choice of dark colors on walls I’d rather have white walls. I also would love to have a Solar Tube in the living room, those are really bright and I believe you can close them with a wall switch if it’s too bright or too hot in the summer. We visited an old friend in California and his bathrooms had those Solar Tubes. Brighter during the daytime than any type of lighting that I’ve seen in any home.

Good but I have an old writing desk, chair and two wingback chairs.... but that's my cabin furniture
Matt85 · 36-40, M
4000 rubber nipples
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
What about pink flamingos on the lawn? 🦩
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FloorGenAdm yeah those who signals that it’s an open marriage and invitation to those who want to stop by and have some activities.
Fishy · F
Same...

And basically anything that's clutter or doesn't serve a direct purpose

@cherokeepatti nah, they planned to retire at that time. They bought a decent sized spread there and have forgotten the rest of the world. He has no great love for CNN though

Cost of living is far less there. I'll definitely be visiting
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@sladejr It’d be worth the visit just to watch the wild birds. They have some of the most colorful birds in the world there.
sladejr · 56-60, M
@cherokeepatti oh yeah. He sends me some great photos of them

And the Metizo girls!
You are serious! How is your home decorated, Cherokee?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion Not fancy, no interior decorators involved or fancy stuff etc. A few pictures some hand-painted and framed. I don’t care for portraits all over the walls either.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Hmmm???? Mice, roaches, leaky plumbing or roof. Also snakes or reptile of any kind. Lead paint, messiness. Thieves, aluminum siding salesmen. Junk mail, naked strangers, tax collectors, people that don't first ring the doorbell and wait until I invite them in.

I can think of a few more, but that's enough for now :)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Heartlander Well that’s given. I am talking about objects
Elanor · F
All of the above and woolly toilet seat covers … lol that’s just messed up
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Elanor Oh yeah the butt warmers. I don’t like those soft-padded toilet seats either. My sister put them in her new home like they were a luxury. When I’d go to use the bathroom I felt like I was doing something wrong sitting on something that soft while using the bathroom.
I'll go by the things left in this place by the prev owners I couldn't get rid of fast enough.
- Accordion doors
- Lacy curtains
- Roll shades, especially tinted plastic
- Upright piano
- Industrial sized metal desk
- Sea-foam green paint
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Agreed on the air fresheners and throw in any other artificial scented stuff.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Flenflyys In the 60’s they sold these air fresheners that sat on the back of a toilet and they were called Airwicks. They had a thick wick on a wire in them and you pulled them up and the bottom of the wick sat in scented liquid. My aunt got the rose-scented ones and they were nice. Probably not healthy, I don’t know. What I really hated back then was the Gardenia-scented air-fresheners. And I like a natural lemon or orange fragrance. I have some orange-oil spray I like to use but mostly use it for getting labels off of containers (the best thing I have found for it) and spraying on bugs inside the house or mailbox etc. Not toxic.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@cherokeepatti yea I do some oil diffusers but a lot of those air fresheners are full of chemicals. And oddly enough gardenia is one of my favourite scents lol
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
I don't ticking clocks but Air Fresheners I agree
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@FreestyleArt I worked in a coed dorm and the coordinator put those oil-plug ins in every lounge, the hallways and bathrooms. He was going to pottery barn and getting the expensive ones too. When he put them in for at least two weeks the air was so overpowered with the odors that I could taste them. Tried to tell him that they were unhealthy due to messing with hormones but he continued. And some of the athletes were complaining about gaining weight.
Blondily · F
I agree but love antiques.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Blondily I like them but I want my home to be livable. I hate to tell anyone that they can’t sit in a chair because it’s antique and more fragile than the other furniture.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
A complete list of things I want in my house:

Books.
morrgin · F
Hearts. I hate home decor with hearts
IM5688 · 61-69, M
I agree with you 100%.
meggie · F
Floral wallpaper
Ornaments
Overflowing bookcases
Paintings of bowls of fruit
Incense sticks
Stuffed toys
Cabinets full of old unused china
Shoe rack in the front hallway
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@meggie Yeah wallpaper in general. I have it in both bathrooms and would love to have it removed. Wouldn’t mind beaded wainscoting on the lower half and painted walls on the top.
Azlotto · M
I do agree...I figured MSG and liquid smoke would be on your list too.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Azlotto yeah, especially MSG. After I got sensitive to it I went through my spice drawer and packets of seasonings and threw everything out that had MSG in it. We had a stock of Indian curry boxes for various types of curry and they all had it in it. Makes me think that’s why our friend from India who loved here got Lou Gehrig’s disease, it killed it rather fast. He was married to an American and maybe she used those to cook with or maybe he did when he was single here.
Junk mail ... that's the main reason I got a PO Box.
