Have you ever received a notice from your apartment management telling you to lock your doors? At all times?

I have just received such a notice, taped to my door, from the building management, telling me to do so for my own safety and security. Contrary to their intent, the notice does NOT make me feel safe or secure, in fact, quite the opposite.

We HAVE security cameras everywhere...and I wonder what the management might have seen.

They have yes. Some homeless individuals got in at night and beat up and robbed a man upstairs.

@SW-User How awful!!! That's what happened here, three years ago. I have some really weird neighbors, too...who have allowed their adult kids to move in...and now all bets are off. I have to wait till I go and get my mail tomorrow to find out what happened this time.

I’m so sorry. Please stay safe . @4meAndyou

@SW-User You, too. I hope you've purchased a very loud alarm you can set off if someone attacks you.

No, but they really should. We've had a lot of crazy stuff going on in the building, and we wanted to move but the prices have gone up too much.

@purplepen About three years ago they did a survey and asked us if we felt safe, and after we answered all the questions, we had security cameras installed, and for one month we had a security guard who patrolled the building. I spoke to him one night, and he said that homeless people were breaking in to the building, and sleeping on various sofas in the lobbies. He said he actually saw one fellow trying the back door, and when he saw the guard, he ran.

So I figured things had calmed down. I don't what could have happened to set off a security admonishment...again.

It's coming! The Zombie Apocalypse! Aaaaahhhhh! 🤣

@ancientmariner There are already a LOT of them in my building...😱
How does he know you don’t? 😳

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout "They"...several workers here...the office staff and maintenance. The notices were taped to everyone's doors...I saw them on several doors down the hall.

Don’t most people do that anyway?
4meAndyou · F
@SmartKat I know that I do. However, one night I may have absentmindedly neglected to lock my door. I was very ill. So ill, in fact, that I left my television on, which I never do. After I was ill, I went to lie down on my bed, and I fell asleep. I was awakened at 2 a.m. by a violent pounding on my door, and I could not wake up enough to get out of bed. By the time the noise stopped I was finally able to get up, and I found my door open, and my door wreath was lying on the floor in the hallway, partly broken.

I was shocked to see that my television was still on, so I turned it off, locked my door and returned to bed.

I know who did that. We had a man living here for a while, long since evicted, who was so infuriated by noises that he would threaten his neighbors. But he is gone now...so I know the current warning was not caused by him.

Update: There are two huge repairmen in the hall whom I don't recognize, working on the camera that is pointed at MY door!!!!
@4meAndyou they found the source of the trouble ...bingo !
