Have you ever received a notice from your apartment management telling you to lock your doors? At all times?

I have just received such a notice, taped to my door, from the building management, telling me to do so for my own safety and security. Contrary to their intent, the notice does NOT make me feel safe or secure, in fact, quite the opposite.

We HAVE security cameras everywhere...and I wonder what the management might have seen.

Don’t most people do that anyway?

@SmartKat I know that I do. However, one night I may have absentmindedly neglected to lock my door. I was very ill. So ill, in fact, that I left my television on, which I never do. After I was ill, I went to lie down on my bed, and I fell asleep. I was awakened at 2 a.m. by a violent pounding on my door, and I could not wake up enough to get out of bed. By the time the noise stopped I was finally able to get up, and I found my door open, and my door wreath was lying on the floor in the hallway, partly broken.

I was shocked to see that my television was still on, so I turned it off, locked my door and returned to bed.

I know who did that. We had a man living here for a while, long since evicted, who was so infuriated by noises that he would threaten his neighbors. But he is gone now...so I know the current warning was not caused by him.
