Makes me curious...

When Trump says he believes Veterans that are killed...injured..or captured are LOSERS.... why do his minions still support a person that is like that? He does not want to be seen with Veterans that are injured or lost limbs in war...saying its bad for his image... YET these minions some are vets and some are not. I just dont understand

A member who blocks me, kinda munster, doubts whether or not Trump actually said that. Yeah, the source could be lying; always possible. But given the strength of character and the commitment to service of the source, I tend to trust him.

So who is the source? John Kelly, White House chief of staff from July 28, 2017, to 2, 2019, and secretary of Homeland Security from Jan. 20, 2017, to July 31, 2017. Kelly is a retired four-star Marine Corps general. Here's his full quote.

“What can I add that has not already been said? A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France."

"A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women. A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law."

“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly concluded. “God help us.”

@Ynotisay Just curious, why do you feel it's safe to say John Kelly wouldn't lie. Do you know him personally? Or do you just hate Trump and agree with anyone who would disparage him?
@LLcoolK For me it's Kelly's life of service.

ye he had bone spurs to avoid service. money is king and so is trump

It's contentious whether or not he actually said that.

Additionally, Biden botched the Afghanistan withdraw, and a perhaps lot of military people care more about what someone does, as opposed to what they say.

@black4white So to you...you are hearing Trump say he will be a dictator here...the exact quote if I may...."Only on day 1. I wanna close the border and drill drill drill." The host clarifies, "not retribution.." and then Trump says "No no no, other than day 1".

And you believe that this is a serious and sober explanation of his policy regarding his second term? That he will be a dictator on his first day? And then what? What does drill drill drill even mean?

I hear a man joking in front of a receptive audience with a receptive interviewer. And you believe otherwise? Can you explain why? What is it that you believe is being said here? What do you anticipate happening?

And let me clarify, this video does not mean I am wrong. While you may believe it does, and I will allow in a very pedantic way he does say he will be a dictator...on day 1...but do you really think this means he will be an actual authoritarian style, Pinochet authoritarian leader if he is elected to a second term? I don't, and therefore I find the whole situation ridiculous and don't seriously believe Trump announced he will be a dictator in his second term...I mean, watch it again....you really think that's what is happening here?

@black4white I see that you doubled up on this post and put a .pdf file that discussed Trump's comments in regards to the Unite the Right event in Charlotsville. What you DIDN'T include was the actual text of the press conference and the relevant exchange that debunks this nonsense. Source linked below, with the relevant text quoted below that.

https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2020/08/fact-check-trump-very-fine-people.html

Reporter: (Inaudible) "... both sides, sir. You said there was hatred, there was violence on both sides. Are the --"

Trump: "Yes, I think there's blame on both sides. If you look at both sides -- I think there's blame on both sides. And I have no doubt about it, and you don't have any doubt about it either. And if you reported it accurately, you would say."

Reporter: "The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest --"

Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn't put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name."

Reporter: "George Washington and Robert E. Lee are not the same."

Trump: "George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down -- excuse me, are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him?"

Reporter: "I do love Thomas Jefferson."

Trump: "Okay, good. Are we going to take down the statue? Because he was a major slave owner. Now, are we going to take down his statue?

"So you know what, it's fine. You're changing history. You're changing culture. And you had people -- and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists -- because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.

"Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people. But you also had troublemakers, and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets, and with the baseball bats. You had a lot of bad people in the other group."

If he actually said those things, it would be horrible. But have you noticed that these allegations are made by a reporter citing unnamed sources? No other evidence other than a reporter who said that four people told them that Trump said these things. Even though Trump has been out of office for years, these four people are still unnamed.

Maybe you should read the entire text instead of watching that guy, Maddow
black4white · 56-60, M
@Patriot96 I have read and listen to 45 unlike you I come to my own conclusions… minions like yourself don’t understand that
Ynotisay · M
I think it's similar to why evangelicals go all in with a non-believer. Or the blue collar guys he screws, who he wouldn't cross the street to spit on, think he's on their side.
I think the common thread is grievance. He's given them the OK to rage, yell and hate. Because that's who he is. It's the only explanation I can see.
LLcoolK · 51-55, M
@Ynotisay But you're not hating by stereotyping evangelicals and "blue collar guys" as people looking for an excuse to rage and hate? That's a very broad brush to use as you paint others. It must be very comfortable for you to paint others as haters while blinding yourself to your own bigotry.
Ynotisay · M
@LLcoolK It's not comfortable for me. But it's the truth. If I'd said 'the vast majority" would you have felt the need to defend....whoever or whaterver? Most likely yourself? Nearly 70% of Evangelicals support Trump. He's a non-believer. Clearly. It's the in mid to high 60's for white working class without college education. And Biden has done far more for that group of people than Trump ever did. Directly and indirectly.
But do this. Tell me something that those people are FOR. Something that supports progress that betters the lives of others. Not what they're against. That's easy.
And bigoted? I'm around those people. I can deal with them individually. Collectively I have no respect for them. I can't respect people who kiss the hand that beats them. Or those who believe that fables, DRIVEN by "us vs. them,' should be the cornerstone of this country. But hate is a big word. I didn't use that word. You did.
But again, let me know what those voters are for. I'm interested.
But I'll stand with what I said. Grievance. It's driven by grievance. Real or imagined. Mostly imagined because that's what they're fed. A quick trip to any right wing "media' outlet will show that to be true.
LLcoolK · 51-55, M
@Ynotisay It’s interesting that you assume I made my comments in defense of evangelicals and “blue collar guys” because I am one of them. Because you seem to assume that you are speaking from some sort of moral high ground or some great irrefutable truth, it appears that you believe that if someone disagrees with you it is because that are offended. I am not even slightly offended. Your words carry no weight with me personally. Anyone can read your words and see the bigotry in them without being the target of your words. Your condescension concerning large groups of people you cannot possibly know or fully understand speaks for itself and gives vivid insight into your mindset. Trump supporters have clearly stated over and over what “those people are for”. The list is long and easy to discover. The real question would be, “What are you for?” A pseudo intellectual often asks the very question you did, demanding to know something that has been clearly articulated without first being accountable to answer the very question they ask. Most likely, yourself? You are basically accusing millions of people of being unthinking idealogues which is impossible for you know about a large group of people, while at the same time speaking as an ideologue yourself which you have made evident for anyone reading your post. As far as the word hate is concerned, did you read your own words? You used the word hate as you described the mindset of millions of Americans. To quote you, “He’s given them the OK to rage, yell and hate”. Again, I think the glaring error you make in accusing me of using the word hate while claiming you did not use the word hate speaks loudly of the willing blindness you harbor concerning your own bigotry. A “quick trip” to any left wing media outlet will easily reveal the source of your parroted ideology. Your words have no credibility.

Maybe you should stop getting your news from the biased media. Donald Trump is given more money to veterans than probably anyone else on the planet. He was telling everyone that our government treats them like losers.

how can you be a veteran if you were killed?
