it was more my dad's bday than anything else, but we're Irish by ancestry as well, so...

i live in New Jersey and i don't . Lot of Irish culture here. I am not much of a drinker. I try not to drive that weekend . Too many buzzed drivers. When I was in college I celebrated it but it was more an excuse to drink at the time. Not like I speak Gaelic or really understand Irish culture.
Nope

@Missbirdie1986 you don't need to drink to observe it.
Missbirdie1986 · 36-40, F
@beermeplease I don’t want to celebrate it
beermeplease · M
@Missbirdie1986 neither do i. but when i was younger it was an excuse to drink at the pub and not really "celebrating" it
not really; the americanized version tends to be kinda outside my normal range and after I worked with people in Dublin it kinda grew less interesting.

I love St Patrick's Day!!! We always do a special meal and watch Irish dancing.
@DearAmbellina2113 what kind of meal?
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F

My wife and I wear green and try to remember who our Irish ancestors were. Most of hers were from Scotland, so it gets confusing.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Not anymore, my wife is not Irish. In my single days I used to go out drinking.
If I toad you, you would be green with envy.

therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Are you Irish?
@therighttothink50 yes and I have a shilleleah to!
bijouxbroussard · F
Not really. I used to go to a pub in SF after work with a couple of Irish friends. About thirty years ago I prepared corned beef & cabbage for one of them and while she ate every bite and apparently enjoyed it, she explained gently that in Ireland (where she was born and raised) the dish had no national significance. 🤦🏻
