Yes, I celebrate Christmas. Christmas Eve Candlelight service to keep the focus upon the birth of Christ. Afterwards back to.home and have some special foods and enjoy family time together.

Our home is decorated.Tree, stockings, garland, and other festive decorations. Christmas morning we open gifts..Big meal mid day. We listen to Christmas music.Watch Christmas films. During the season we go caroling to shut-ins. Bring cookies to neighbors.

A time of hope, joy, peace, and love. Jesus is the reason for the season.
@OverTheHill Jesus is not the reason. Read up on the creation of christianity. So many elements of paganism have been celebrated from ages before the myth of jesus.

You are seeing the world as YOU are, not as IT is.

@FlowersNButterflies . Thanks for your response. I can assure you that I have read the the Biblical account of the birth of Christ, and the beginnings of the church. Jesus is no myth, even atheists will attest to that (https://historyforatheists.com/2017/05/did-jesus-exist-the-jesus-myth-theory-again/). As it says in the aforementioned article, "The proponents of the Jesus Myth hypothesis are almost exclusively amateurs with an ideological axe to grind and their position is and will almost certainly remain on the outer fringe of theories about the origins of Christianity."

There is nothing wrong with the way that I and billions of other Christians see the world. Merry Christmas FlowersNButterflies!
@OverTheHill Just because you believe that does not make it true. Read about Origen and his writings.

I do, in my own quiet way. I have my few decorations up, and my little tree, and the Christmas lights are turned on at night in expectation of the Savior's arrival. I have a tiny stocking, which doesn't get filled, but is out anyway for show, and I play Christmas music for several days before the "big day".

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I will cook a Christmas meal, and I will take half of the food over to a friend who is unable to drive. I have a very small gift for him, and he usually gives me something small as well.

@Musicman I couldn't use normal sized Christmas ornaments for my tiny, tiny tree...so I gave one very special one made of volcanic glass from Mount St. Helen's eruption to my son, and I was forced to sell all the rest at the yard sale my son made me have on his front lawn.

@4meAndyou I am sorry to hear that ☹ I haven't used the balls from my childhood in years. Mainly I don't trust Padoodle. Lol!!! We haven't put up a tree since Covid. ☹

@Musicman Padoodle tree!

No only the holiday bit as work is closed for "Ten" days (in my case 12 days due to shift pattern).

We Sikhs mourn the month of December as to us, it's known "Shaheed Jod Mela" (festival of martyrs). Our Tenth Guru's mother and all 4 children were sacrificed defending Sikhism from Mughals. Also last remaining 40 best Sikh warriors were killed in the Battle of Chamkaur Sahib. Tenth Guru "Escaped" and survived.

The internet will tell u more but careful where yer reading INFO from!
@Sazzio Interesting. Thank you.
Not in the same way I did as a child, when I used to go to Mass with my family and celebrate with gifts. Now I get together with loved ones throughout the season and cook.

The religious aspect is no longer important to me; it’s more about being with those whom I love, if I can. 🥺

@jenni100 Nothing you said here is valid. You are not a deep thinker. You engage in psychological projection and people like you are why extreme or traditional religion is dying.

You simply have no clue.
jenni100 · 18-21, F
@FlowersNButterflies Thank you for your courteous reply and best wishes of the season. I must have been mistaken concluding that you are an intolerant bigot. As you say, i have no clue what motivates you to write such fact-free stuff and in such a rude way.

[As for facts, i'll just cite the recent research on numbers of baptized Catholics (if that's an extreme or traditional enough form of Christianity for you) the most recent data show the numbers growing everywhere except Europe (where the total population declined). It grew fastest in Africa, but also increased in the Americas, Oceania, and Asia. The number of Catholics rose overall to 1.39 billion worldwide. The population of Christians of all kinds is about 2.4 billion, the world's largest religion.]

In your new reply, you say extreme or traditional religion, not just Christianity, is dying. I would not base foreign policy on that claim. Islam has fewer adherents than Christianity, but it is growing in numbers even faster and, some would say (especially in northern Nigeria and in the Middle East) in extremism.
@jenni100 I didn't read your diatribe. I like interacting with intelligent people. Next I will block you.

Yes, but only at Christmas time... and only if there's snow on the ground, but if there isn't any snow, then Christmas is cancelled and all my relatives go back home.
