@Fatalice yep turkey for thanksgiving and we do a standing rib roast for Christmas
Fatalice · 41-45, F
Really no idea why people celebrate anything with turkey @Miklee02

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I’ve made free-range chicken the last two years. It’s easier to cook, doesn’t heat up the kitchen and every bite gets eaten.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@cherokeepatti nice! 😊
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Miklee02 I wasn’t in the best of health. But it tasted better, easier to digest than turkey & that is more important. Didn’t have to deal with a lot of leftover-burnout either.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@cherokeepatti yep health comes first! ❤but it still sound yummy 😋
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@saragoodtimes oldest is almost 5 already,,,, her brother will be one in December and my other granddaughter is 16month with her brother or sister coming in spring
It’s the best gig ever!!
@Miklee02 my parents totally agree
calicuz · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1

"Mostly," that's what's important here.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Normally about 24 to 25 lb but seeing as how I'm going to be by myself this year I'm not making anything matter of fact since the family doesn't even get together anymore I'm probably not going to do much of anything either
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@KingofBones1 I’m sorry to hear that
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
@Miklee02 thank you I appreciate it I'll be okay
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
I can’t remember, but probably a big one. We have to feed a lot. We make a turkey and a ham usually. Three. Grown children, four grandchildren my mother-in-law. We go through a lot of food. My mother-in-law doesn’t live with us, but the rest do.
AbbeyRhode · F
I always get the free one from ShopRite, and I get the biggest I can find, usually about 25 pounds. I love the leftovers, and I'm entitled to it, so why settle for less?
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@AbbeyRhode leftovers are the best!!
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
It depends on how much I drink. I can be a pretty good sized one
Miklee02 · 51-55, F

@Miklee02 a gobble between shots
TexChik · F
We are going to have a big group this year so we are planning on 3. One baked, one smoked, and one fried…plus a pig in the ground. The 18-pounders fit the best in the fryer and the smoker.
TexChik · F
@Miklee02 Feeding 60 , then leftovers for 40....It takes a lot...And the best part is, I am not cooking any of it. The ladies (family) are doing the traditional bird, and the guys are frying, smoking, and doing the pig in the ground.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@TexChik well enjoy that feast!
TexChik · F
@Miklee02 As long as I get one Turkey sammich out of all that , I am good! 😉
Sevendays · M
I have it at relative's houses. There's usually around 25 people so they make 2. One in the oven and one deep fried.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@Sevendays it’s rough…. But it’s once a year
Sevendays · M
@Miklee02 definitely lots of work. What time's dinner? I don't wanna be late. 😂
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@Sevendays we do a 2pm linner

If it's just immediate fam, 14lbs.
I love leftovers. And I'll typically make some homemade egg noodles later and pour turkey and noodles over mashed potatoes for dinner a few days later too.

SWUser123987 · 51-55, M
@Miklee02 also make some Turkey street style tacos for Taco Tuesday
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Turkey is dry and boring. Corned beef is much better.
exexec · 70-79, C
Usually an 18 pound fresh turkey, but we will be missing some people this year so we will go smaller. Plus, we will have half a smoked turkey breast. I'm smoking the turkey breast and a pork butt next week.
Often, 2 of the breast-only turkeys.
Miklee02 · 51-55, F
@SomeMichGuy healthy meat
@Miklee02 Thanks
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
