No it's over-commercialised bullshit hiding the dark secret of a Christian religous festival.

@zonavar68 which Christian festival? 🤔
Cloud7593 · 46-50, F
@zonavar68 Religion has nothing to do with New Year's. It's just a big party holiday. It's why I don't like it.

It’s kinda hard to get excited for a new year of wars and crashing economies 🤓

I think it is important in a “out with the old and in with the new” sort of way. Lot of people make New Year resolutions that could improve their life. Cheers and happy New Year!

I prefer to think of Winter Solstice as the new year, makes more sense to me.

Not at all, it's just turning the calendar to a new year.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I think so....

It's just a way for me (and other people no doubt) to compartmentalize events that happen. I don't know how much more difficult it'd be to track events in history if we didn't record it with years.

And it's interesting to me because each year takes on an identity of some kind.
Aidan · 26-30
@caPnAhab I guess it’s just human nature to need years. I think I’d be fine though. 😅👽

Its 100% made up.

Jan 1 doesn't correlate to any cosmological, religious or historical event.

It's just the day we all have to buy new calendars.
