Its down, and the furniture is back to it's normal place...Now we just gotta put the stuff away

My grandkids need to give their approval before I can remove any Christmas decorations. That's the word as passed to me from my oldest granddaughter.
exexec · 61-69, C
No. Lynn insists that the tree and inside decorations stay up past Jan. 1. I may start on the outside stuff before then.
Yourguyinthecity · 56-60, M
Never put any up this year.

Is it January 6 already? Christmas never ended until King's Day. Well, before they started celebrating it in October. And then a would-be King changed the whole meaning to January 6. I guess we are running late on Valentine's Day.

Why are you so desperate to take them down only on the 3rd day of Christmas? Traditionally they are kept until Twelfth Night (well, the day of.)
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Of course not. They'll be on twigs until needles start to fall down. And I'll keep my light string at least until January 6.

1st April I’m taking mine down I’ve decided. Day after Easter next year and it should be warmer and the sun should be out by then.

DDonde · 31-35, M
Nope. It's still December, why take them down?
HappyDrifter · 36-40, M
@DDonde It's just the way I do it. All the Christmas decorations are down and put away on the 26th.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Well, we didn't end up putting too much stuff up outside. I took down the animated Santa projector light, and switched the slide on the other projector so it now says "Happy New Year!"
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire The family a few doors along have an assortment of rather tacky decorations in their small front garden. These include one that seems fashionable this year but rather bizarre: a plastic (inflatable?) Father Christmas dangling by his arms from some part of the building, the window-frame in their case.
I've simply a wreath on the front door, a small artificial tree with battery-powered lamps inside the front room window, and the usual string of cards.
One year I hung a hurricane-lantern above the front door, which is only about six feet in from the street, and faithfully re-filled and re-lit it each night from Christmas Eve till Eleventh Night. The effect was rather lost though, by a bright street-lamp nearly opposite!
