SailorMoon · 36-40, F
@Mysti dang it tv why u gotta ruin something so good
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@Mysti technically, yes.
Television did in fact happen to them, but, in the early days of television, (circa late 1940's/early 1950's) more people still had radios, than they did, television sets, and many of the radio shows of the 1930's and 1940's, did carry over into the early-to-mid 1950's, and then as the years went on, television was more mainstream and radio shows, gradually became obsolete.

I really like radio plays too! CBC Radio here in Canada used to have them, including a really moving series, "Afghanada", a fictionalized story of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. But a year or two ago that kind of programming was eliminated in budget cuts :(
There is a nostalgia radio station here that plays old radio dramas, like detective stories, late in the evening. And I imagine you can find them on line, maybe YouTube?

Nowadays, you can find them on YouTube.
Some of the ones I've listened to, are The Shadow, The Green Hornet, and Sherlock Holmes, to name a few...
There was also a 1938 radio drama of A Christmas Carol, presented by Orson Welles, and starring Lionel Barrymore.
I happen to have a copy of it on cassette, which I listen to, every December.
I also have a 3 cassette set of the BBC radio drama presentation of the Hobbit.
