what happend to radio shows? not liek talk shows but the ones that were radio plays?

SO to clairfy. im asking what happend to the radio shows that were essentially plays on the radio. War of the worlds was orginally a radio show. I like that sort of thing cuase it stimulates my imagination to think about what everything looks like. plus i can enjoy it more cuase even though its fleshed out written. i can see what i want to see. :)

Nowadays, you can find them on YouTube.

Some of the ones I've listened to, are The Shadow, The Green Hornet, and Sherlock Holmes, to name a few...

There was also a 1938 radio drama of A Christmas Carol, presented by Orson Welles, and starring Lionel Barrymore.

I happen to have a copy of it on cassette, which I listen to, every December.

I also have a 3 cassette set of the BBC radio drama presentation of the Hobbit.
