Any shaming like that is stupid. it's not like they don't look in the mirror, purchase their clothes, or any of that other stuff. they're VERY aware, and some random asshat coming up and pointing it out in some concern troll sort of way isn't going to change those facts. i could understand someone close to them saying they think they need some help. but a complete stranger being rude to someone without offering some way they might help themselves, or work toward what is considered "healthier" is pointless, and just a way for someone to feel better about NOT being the person they're looking down on. even other fat people do it and it's stupid" i'm fat but not THAT fat" etc 🙄
@DancingStarGoddess: i'll add to this that telling people who are very thin that they need to go " eat a sandwich" IS the same thing. and equally as fucked up. knock it off people.

@DancingStarGoddess: yes.... My parents constantly push me to eat everything.... God! I'm tired of eating. Eating is boring.
@minnie: absolutely, people don't understand sometimes, on both ends of that spectrum, it's actually pretty harmful, and they could even be pushing you to eat the wrong things, eating more isn't exactly a solution if what you're eating is bad things anyways. you could be thin and still dying from clogged arteries. if they want to help it'd be better if they really looked into it, or even asked you how YOU desire to look for yourself.

I do not approve, it's rude and cruel. and its not always the persons fault. Thyroid conditions can cause a person to be heavy.

Walk a mile in their shoes. Never OK, it is not always as it seems.

When people get very large it makes them look lazy and irresponsible. You have to wonder what's going on in their life that they can't control what they eat . I don't make fun of people and I don't stare at people either. I'm just telling you what I think because I can. @nudewalker:

@Puffieke: I agree, after seeing how medical and mental conditions affect people, and I can't judge.
Spoiledbrat · F
Not always are these conditions the cause of weight gain, however. Some people just like to eat or have less control than others. Whatever the reason, it's clearly got control of them and is more important than their health is. Maybe it's all they have to live for. Maybe they don't care about the people around them but they clearly don't care about themselves or their families enough to drop a few pounds. Some people think it's normal to take high blood pressure pills at 30. I guess the stress they are undergoing is more important than the satisfaction of healthy living. @nudewalker:

I think this is a tough subject. No, I do not think "fat shaming" is ok. On the other hand, I have known people/family/friends who are/were overweight which contributed to many of their health and social matters. It can be frustrating because one wants them to be healthy and 'living life' but they don't because of such. I think it is hard to confront them about it.....

There is simply no justifiable reason to pick on anyone ...

When I was a lad ..
When the fat person got teased they exercised and got fit to take that ammo away from ppl.
Today we lie down in the fetal position sucking our thumbs crying 'life is so unfair' why can't I be thin without proper diet and exercise..

and some people gain weight as a side effect to their meds

@mrmoose: And some just stuff it in.

Not usually that much though. @mrmoose:

@Puffieke: It's possible

I don't like cruel people. So fat-shaming, body-shaming in general is not a behavior that will endear anyone to me. People who think that way are not anyone whom I wish to know.
SW-User
It's mean.

There were no fat people in concerntration camps....just saying.
bijouxbroussard · F
@SwanSongRebeL: How do you know? They didn't stay fat, obviously.
SW-User
@bijouxbroussard Well that's what I'm saying, for the most part the people were emaciated, I have never seen a picture of a fat person in a camp, so. While I do believe some individuals have health problems and issues, hence their weight gain, I think this is exaggerated by modern day sedentary lifestyles and poor choices.
