I am trying it now, lost 45 pounds, then went off it (I eat when my stress levels rise) gained 10 back, but back on it a week and down 4

Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Yea, did not work for me, seems like the interment fasting is the only thing that works for me.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Subsumedpat I do better with that one. It doesn’t seem healthy to restrict all carbs including starchy veggies like peas and sweet potatoes and beans.

worked short term when I was taking ketones also. Def lost weight but never felt great on it.

Haven't gone as extreme as Keto, but have certainly been on a very low-carb diet, and as long as I stayed disciplined and was careful about portion size, it did work for losing weight. I've read Keto is harder to stick to, but if you have the drive and discipline to do it, it can work. It can be unhealthy if you don't get enough calories to sustain you though, so probably best to actually follow an established program or use one of those keto diet apps.

Just like anything else once you stop it’s probably going to cause the weight to come back. Good luck.

Worked well for me! I liked it! Eating more often each day was helpful too!
Just made me super tired all the time. I felt really gross and sweaty too
SensualRomantic · 46-50, M
It works if you don't cheat. You must enter everything to a log daily.

My friend did it for a year and lost 35 kgs

Try the Carnivore Diet
The Ketogenic diet. I disagree with it because of the possible after effect. It lowers the carb intake. Good for diabetics of course. Starches make sugar. However, carbs is the main fuel of the human body. Furthermore, meat and dairy in the amount specified for this diet is dangerous. They both create acidosis in the body. An acidic intake allows disease to take hold in the body. No human disease can thrive in an alkaline body. The PH is regulated in the human body, but why tip the scale to acid? This is just my opinion from information I gained as a personal trainer. Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. However, I am not a nutritionist. I can only speak about what has kept my physiology at 34 years old, though I am chronological 59. By the way, there is no such thing as a perfect diet. Moderation is key. Genetics also play a role in weight management. The basic formula is 3500 calories more than calories needed to maintain your body weight within 7 days will cause a gain of 1lb. 3500 calories less causes a loss of one pound.

@RenaissanceMan good for short-term to reduce blood sugar in type II Diabetics but after that more carbs are needed, it can damage the thyroid gland if there aren't enough carbs consumed.
@cherokeepatti good point. I agree

No it doesn't work.. all fad diets are scams for the most part. Because You lose water weight in the beginning but you sacrifice health in other areas.. and most people do not have the control required to see it through..

The only healthy way to lose weight is burn more calories than you consume, which means eating balanced meals, stop putting your body through starvation diets and get out and exercise, or swim..
If you can't do that, then just live with yourself and stop worrying about it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I've used it short-term, it is effective for lowering blood sugar for pre-diabetics and diabetics...know 4 diabetics who got their blood sugar lowered enough with it to get off of their Metformin prescriptions....they still eat low-carb but not so low as to call it Keto, more like paleo (no grains, no sugar but with some dairy and resistant starch-type foods).

It worked once for me about 15 years ago but never again since. And it's so heavy on animal products it's not practical for me as a vegan. If somebody could cook me up a vegan version I'd try again.
Mert5356 · 41-45, M
I have been recommended it based on my scenario, but doubt I stay on it.
