The Ketogenic diet. I disagree with it because of the possible after effect. It lowers the carb intake. Good for diabetics of course. Starches make sugar. However,carbs is the main fuel of the human body. Furthermore, meat and dairy in the amount specified for this diet is dangerous. They both create acidosis in the body. An acidic intake allows disease to take hold in the body. No human disease can thrive in an alkaline body. The PH is regulated in the human body,but why tip the scale to acid? This is just my opinion from information I gained as a personal trainer. Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. However, I am not a nutritionist. I can only speak about what has kept my physiology at 34 years old,though I am chronological 59. By the way,there is no such thing as a perfect diet. Moderation is key. Genetics also play a role in weight management. The basic formula is 3500 calories more than calories needed to maintain your body weight within 7 days will cause a gain of 1lb. 3500 calories less causes a loss of one pound.

@RenaissanceMan good for short-term to reduce blood sugar in type II Diabetics but after that more carbs are needed, it can damage the thyroid gland if there aren't enough carbs consumed.
@cherokeepatti good point. I agree
