I have to have an MRI on my brain this week 😞

You’ll be ok. Hold on. It too shall pass. And the results are not problems. They are the solutions to problems. Remember that.

My daughter had 2 MRI last week. She too is claustrophobic. They allowed me to stay inside the room. I would speak to her regularly. Sometimes touch her. Get someone to be there for you. Would help.

If it’s any help when I have had MRI scans just before the nurses are leaving the room I close my eyes, and to project myself to somewhere else. Picturing a beautiful place. A bit like meditation. I try not to think of where I am but more of where I would like to be.
Before you know it the scan is over and the nurse is back with you.

You be sure to tell them how nervous you feel. Sometimes they will play soothing music, or if they are REALLY kind, they will talk to you while you are in there and tell you how great you are doing.

I had to have an MRI AND I never knew I was that claustrophobic before because my nose was almost touching the inside of the thing. I said sorry I can’t do it. They said, we’ll put on some music of your choice, have air gently blowing and put a light cloth over your eyes/face. I said ok and it was nice and peaceful. I chose classical music and I almost fell asleep in there.

I had to do this last year. I want to tell you that if they say that you have an arachnoid cyst it usually means nothing important. About 90% of the time. They are extremely common and typically only found when people do MRIs which is usually pretty rare for most of the population.

That would be scary, hopefully they don’t find anything and that’s the only one you have to have. Can your Dr prescribe you something to help calm you for the exam?

I had one recently and the results came back good! Just relax and it will turn out ok!

Ask for the Open MRI if they have it available and some facilities even prescribe a light sedative for you beforehand. Ask for it before going and good luck with it.Hope all goes well!

Ever read the waiver they make you sign before they inject you with that blue stuff before an MRI? It certainly wont help your anxiety.
