I had to call 911 again yesterday
So I had to call 911 again yesterday because I had another Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) episode. SVT is a very fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart's upper chambers. My heart rate was over 200 beats per minute for over 30 minutes yesterday.

The first episode happened April 23rd at 10:30pm. I called 911 and the EMT’s came and we managed to get it stopped by doing vasovagal maneuvers. The had me blow really hard into a syringe until my heart beat regulated. We got it stopped and they took me to the ER. The doctor on call never came into see me or order any tests, the just kept me on a heart monitor all night and sent me home.

Yesterday they had me doing vasovagal maneuvers and were ready to push Adenosine to chemically get my heart back to beating normally but we managed to stop it with the vasovagal maneuvers. If Adenosine doesn’t work then they need to cardiovert which is shocking to regulate the heart.

This time they did bloodwork, an EKG and the doctor gave me a medication to take when it happens. He said it's okay if your heart races for days and it won’t be damaged but don’t leave it that long. He said to take the medication called Metoprolol and if it doesn't get better in 45 minutes with the meds and the vasovagal breathing then to come in to the hospital for intervention.
————————————————————————
I need to see a cardiologist now and that was a scary feeling. Not to mention my kids were so upset to see me being taken away in the ambulance twice. I don’t need another health issue either.
If you read this far, thank you 🩷
