Is grounding good

What do you think of grounding or walking barefoot good for you and your feet
There's no benefit to it. First, to avoid injury, you have to be barefoot all the time. I knew a guy in college who never wore shoes, and he could put cigarettes out on the soles of his feet. So I'm sure he could have walked over broken glass without getting injured. But I could do the same thing wearing shoes. Any argument that it connects you to the energy of the earth is unsubstantiated woo.

Another advantage to wearing shoes is that when I do go barefoot, like on a lawn, I can really feel it. I'm sure my acquaintance wouldn't have felt any difference between grass and concrete with the calluses he must have had.

@LeopoldBloom Occasional is quite a different experience, especially if the surface is in any way challenging. Going barefoot all the time lets you develop a different gait and a greater appreciation for different surfaces.

@ninalanyon walking barefoot.feeels.dofferent your walking changes because of how you step and lift your foot Everytime to take a step it's the same even in socks I remember it feeling weird when I would take my shoes off and i would be walking differently amd it fwlt.different to run as well . Felt weird to me.but only because I felt so light on my feet
@Dracula5555 Occasionally walking on grass or other soft surfaces.

It works for me. I have weak arches. Going without shoes encourages me to walk on the balls of my feet and reduces pain.
Dracula5555 · 31-35, F
@SunshineGirl I've noticed walking feels different when barefoot the way u step is different
rachelsj · 22-25, F
I'm barefoot most of the time
onewithshoes · 22-25, F
I think it's great! 👣 Bare feet rule!
I totally admire barefooters, and I love that my boyfriend goes barefoot.
I just don't go barefoot myself. I like being the one with shoes.🥿🥿

@onewithshoes I love being barefoot and feeling the ground under my feet I like how free it feels and when I take my shoes and socks off I smile because I love having them off

I'm my happiest when i am barefooted. Shoes without rubber soles is the way to go, so we can connect with the ground...the Earth.
Dracula5555 · 31-35, F
@ShadowWorker same I love being barefoot but I wasn't always that way
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
There is something to it. Need to have a clean area to walk on though…young children can get parasites through the soles of their feet since the pores on the bottom of the feet are the largest ones in the body.

@ninalanyon A lot of our food in the USA is being imported, especially from Mexico. It’s not unusual to have recalls due to outbreaks of illness. Strawberries grown in Baja, California is a good example. Growing them in valleys surrounded by populated hills surrounding the area is a good way to get food crops exposed to human sewage since there is no infrastructure in those areas to take care of that sewage. Even fishing from the coast is very risky due to the runoff.

@ninalanyon what we need is more small family farms like we had in the 1960’s. There are only about 25% now compared to what we had back then. Family farmers won’t sell anything that their family wouldn’t deem fit to consume themselves. My uncle used to say that when we were on the farm. When corporations take over farming everything changes.

I went over a phase of doing grounding and bare feet all the time to places, but is too difficult I think to do in living in a city and is too cold as well in this wintertime! And also, so many strange looks for people to look at my feet!
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@MadraLaska I used to go barefoot in Krakow when I was there on business and had a free weekend. Some young men stopped me in the street to ask how it felt. And a guy serving me in a café said he had tried it for a month but found the cobbles in the square too difficult. I told him he should have persevered and that they weren't a problem for me.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i can't go barefoot. mine are too sensitive but there was a huge article in the paper yesterday about grounding and going barefoot.

It all depends on whereyou are walking barefoot. If you are in water you could cut your feet on glass, rocks, sheels, or sticks. If you are in certain parts of the world you could get hookworms, like 740 million other people. Our ancestors were smart enough to create shoes to prevent such things.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Diotrephes For the other 8 billion people hookworm is not a problem. Which group do the people in this conversation belong to?

Do whatever you want to do.
I don’t consider it particularly healthy if you don’t know what’s on the ground. There are also health issues for some people that make going barefoot dangerous, diabetes, for example. Being barefoot may feel good (again, unless you don’t know what’s out there and step on something unpleasant).
But I think for a lot of people it’s just become another fetish.

@bijouxbroussard
But I think for a lot of people it’s just become another fetish.
Very true!!!
Dracula5555 · 31-35, F
@ArtieKat yeah those fetishes are a little weird
