Are you afraid of needles? (Trypanophobia)

I've always been afraid of needles. Once, I freaked out so bad I screamed like crazy when the nurse came at me with the needle. The nurse and my mom had to hold me down tight. I was so scared I couldn't even think straight. Having my mom there helped me feel a bit better, even though it was still scary as heck.

Not really. I've had so many blood tests, IVs, and vaccinations that they don't bother me. They did when I was a kid.
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@Bowenw You're brave
Bowenw · 61-69, M
@Merkabah Hopefully you will get over your fear as you age.
Confined · 56-60, M
When i was little i had to have a lot of blood work done. Did not bother me much then. Now i hate it.
I can not watch it being done. Have a hard time not pulling away.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
They're not as painful as they used to be. They get coated with silicone so they slip in easier.
But now I'm watching Oprah talk about how weight loss is just a daily shot away. Thing is...once you start you can't stop. Ooo now They're getting to the side effects of glutides. Common, minor side effects include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The drug has a boxed warning for thyroid tumors. less common, more serious side effects such as hypersensitivity, rash, swelling and gallbladder issues, Allergic reactions, Changes in blood work, Dizziness, Fatigue, Gallstones, Hypoglycemia, Increase in heart rate, and
Injection site reactions. Some patients reported gastroparesis after taking Ozempic. This means food moved very slowly or stopped moving through the stomach and into the small intestine. The drug’s warning label doesn’t mention this potential side effect. Acute gastroparesis may cause severe vomiting, abdominal pain, problems digesting food, feelings of constant fullness and malnutrition.

Yes I am, and even more so, on account of how needles are synonymous with narcotics like heroin, which I am adamantly against the use of.
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@Sidewinder Now thats a different subject altogether 🤣🤣😂😂
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@Merkabah 😐Laugh all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that my fear is real.

I'm 50% sure that these so-called "vaccines" are just part of a conspiracy to get people doped up.

Why else would people have to be given more doses after the first?

To keep people addicted, that's why.

But suppose I'm wrong and they actually are legitimate vaccines...

Makes you think, doesn't it?
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
Nope. Jab myself once a week.
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
@Merkabah Neither. Arthritic!
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@WanderlustCat At your age? That's rare
WanderlustCat · 36-40, M
@Merkabah Yeah. Started my journey with arthritis in my mid 20s. A gift from my mother.
not even a little. I had weekly shots for years and years.
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@stound Weekly? Were you ill?
@Merkabah allergies.
Not nearly as much as paper cuts or finger sticks.
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@NoGamesTolerated Papercuts can be deadly. It's amazing how someone can be cut by a thin sheet of paper. I've only had it happen once.
@Merkabah I wish I could say the same thing. I’ve rather have an IV. 😫
Youl never see a tattoo on me
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I would never get a tattoo.
SaltnLime · 70-79, M
@Merkabah That's the one good thing to come out of this fear -- no ink on your body!!!
What was the injection for?
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@soar2newhighs Malaria
@Merkabah Sounds like you might soon be taking a trip to a location where getting such a shot is required, right? Reminds me of the military. Going overseas, you got a gaggle of shots.
NeckbeardThePirate · 46-50, M
Not really. I dont like them though. Speaking of which though, are you afraid of staircases? If you are, then you have climacaphobia. Maybe you have thalassophobia. This is fear of the ocean, or gephyrobia, which is the fear of crossing bridges. Or maybe you have pantophobia. Do you think you have pantophobia?
No, but nowadays I’m so beyond sick of them.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
Yes and no. For some reason, needles truly hurt me, give me a lot of pain. One doctor told me it was because I have very sensitive upper skin nerves. I can take a shot, but if they want to take blood from a vein, they must use a butterfly needle, (that's the one they use on infants.)
SammyJo · 51-55, F
No, not really.

Obviously had various inoculations over the years, but I also was an occasional IVDU so injecting was something that I did.

These days? Just a nice glass of white wine...or vodka...my cigarettes...and a strong coffee...those are my only vices.

Howudoin · 41-45, M
I wouldn't say afraid. I think it's just a phobia. I can triage a bleeding person. I can think clearly in times of danger.
Take my blood though? Hell no, I'll pass out.
RenFur · 70-79, M
I had a ton of them as a kid so, no.

Have you ever had an MRI? I can see why some wouldn't like that experience one bit.
Strict4u · 56-60, M
No I’m not afraid of needles I’m diabetic and give myself insulin shots every day
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@Strict4u My Grandfather was diabetic and trypanophobic and because of that, he preferred medicine that can only be taken orally.
Strict4u · 56-60, M
@Sidewinder I take both
I don't freak out but I might pass out if I see it. I get stuck a lot, luckily it's in my chest where I can't see it
Mudkip · 31-35, M
Nope. Had blood work done several times. I'm used to them at this point really
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
Adults who act like this are so annoying. Grow up.
Merkabah · 22-25, F
@Flenflyys wow, take a chill pill
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@Merkabah you’re the one who needs to chill
No…I watch the needle going in at my annual blood tests
TheBannibalOne · 61-69, M
NO,but i am afraid of the after effects.
Yourguyinthecity · 51-55, M
I used to be. I got over it by becoming a blood donor.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
They don't bother me anymore
Azlotto · M
Not at all...I even pierced my own ear.
No, I’m not afraid of them, but of course they’re no fun. But I’ve had countless vaccinations and blood tests, even used to donate blood when I was younger.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
Nah they dont bother me
