I tried it several times and it was a hit or miss for me. There are two different methods, one is the wolf cut and the other is the butterfly cut. For the butterfly cut you make two pony tails, and this went horribly wrong for me lol. It became uneven and just didn't look good. For the wolf cut you only make one pony tail, and my hair looked amazing when I cut it short like this. I have wavy hair, so it became almost curly. I think the wolf cut is fairly easy to get an even result with, but the more you cut off, the more layers you get, and the hair style doesn't look good on everyone. Search the terms for the cuts to see if you even like the hair styles first.

@Tumbleweed Please tell us how it goes if you try it! 😄
Tumbleweed · F
@Nightwings I will! It's down past my shoulders now & driving me nuts. I have to keep it pulled up for work so I'd rather just have it cut.

@Tumbleweed Makes sense, I hope it turns out well! 🤞🏻

I cut my ex's hair for many years. That method should work, but it'll need to be a high pony tail so that more length is cut from the higher levels, assuming you manage to cut it right looking in a mirror. Layering her hair was my specialty, her friends always asked where she got it done. It seems it took them years to believe it was me
Yes, but it depends on how you pull the hait into a pony. If you put it up on the very top of your head you will get a "shag". If you pull it all towards your forehead, you will get a layered "V" cut, meaning you'll get shorter layers in the front and longer towards the back.

My advice to you is to watch lots of tutorials on YouTube before doing it. I'll post a link to a good one if I can find it. The lady is a professional hairdresser.

@MsSwan thank you!!

Yes I did it across my pony but it was a tad uneven..not layered. This year my sister cut it for me but just when it was down and wet, and it came out more even !

Never a good idea to cut your own hair, it sounds easy but you can't see from the back of your head, even in a mirror, if you are doing it right.
Alternate with minced beef, sheets of pasta and bechamel sauce, then it will be layered and will also be a handy lasagne 👏

Don't do it! That did not work out well for the Bobit's as we all know, wait was that hair that was cut, oh, heck use a professional dear.
Prettybratbi1tch · 26-30, F
Sorry I got black girl hair can't help you with that

I part my hair straight down the middle, including the back of my head, bring the two sides forward, and snip off the ends. Perfect trim!
Blondily · F
I comb all of my hair forward and cut an inch off. Gives you a slightly layered hair on the sides.
Penny · 46-50, F
it would be layered but not necessarily well cut lol (especially if your hair is thick it could come out really bad)
Tumbleweed · F
@Penny Ok, maybe I best leave it alone then because my hair is thick!

@Tumbleweed Yes, let it grow!

No but I’ve watched enough reels to know that’s not a good idea unless you’re a hairdresser
