Tell her that she and the rest of the class are the problem, not your daughter. Your daughter knows she is in school to learn. If the teacher can't teach or the students can't learn because of a french braid running down your daughter's back, then it is THEY who need to change tactics, not your daughter. Braids are apprpriate for females (and/or males) at ANY age.

Nevermind that some women don't cut their hair for religious reasons. What a gross overstep. Do not cut that little girl's hair.

Ask the English teacher if they are an English teacher or a fashion stylist.Then ask to be shown in the book of school rules where it says teachers decide pupil's hair length.Maybe you can file a complaint with the school board.Suggest the English teacher shaves their head bald and see how they like being told how to wear their hair.Offer to bring clippers and a razor in so you can shave the English teacher's head personally.

Sounds like the only one distracted is the teacher.

My daughter hair is never messy or dirty. Like I said she always keeps it clean and styled.

I emailed the teacher kindly telling her to not to worry about her hair.

She answered back saying my daughters choice of hair style breaks the rules. She said children aren't allowed to have crazy hairstyles or hair color. She said she was going to bring this to the attention of the principal.

I told her go ahead lol.

Don't know why this is even a issue. Yet I just heard a similar story on the news about boys hair causing him to not graduate.

Something weird is certainly going on in some schools.

Hair just shouldn't be a issue for any kid. By teacher or school board.

Report the message to the school board and ask if you need to contact your attorney or will these messages stop.

Also, tell her if it distracts other students, then it's their problem, not hers.

Unless your daughter is violating the school dress/hair code, tell the teacher it is not her business.

Respectfully ask to see any policies that the school might have. If no policies, then tell respectfully that teachers have no authority to say what hair length and style is appropriate for a child, and that if the other children are distracted, then a talk with them is needed.

No, don't cut it. As long as it is clean and she likes it, it can't be hurting anyone in class.

I would be suspicious of her unnatural concern for your daughter’s appearance . If there is no issue with the schools dress code policies concerning the hair length requirements of its students, I would consider having a recorded meeting with the school’s principal and request your daughter be placed in a different class.

Unless you're in a private school where they have rules about hair length, she really has no business saying anything about her hair.

Tell that teacher that your childs hair has nothing to do with her education and that, that teacher should focus on giving thorough lessons in class and worry less about the way students wear their hair or how they dress as long as the attire is appropriate.
