If small pieces of gravel get into a garbage disposal, will it break it, ruin it?

Or grind down and be ok??

Do you have a vacuum with hose attachment? Is the gravel causing the disposal to lock up or get stuck?! Is it stuck now?
If so, the best way to free it up is the little silver ish looking tool. It is bent on both ends. Basically it's a hex wrench,a six sided thingy. 馃榿 and it fits in a hex shaped hole dead center underneath. You don't have to lay down unless you just want to see it. You can feel it and put the tool into that hole and try to turn it counterclock wise. This till it's often lost right away but if you're the kind that holds onto stuff because you know it goes somewhere then it is probably in your junk drawer. You can turn it either way. I said it that way because the machine runs clockwise.
Next best tool it's a wit wooden handle broom. Just stick it in from the top, bristle end up, at a slight angle(whatever it allows) and push or pull on it, more like a yank and usually it'll move it. Pretty easily.
Eventually the gravel will grind down and pass with other product already in. Safety first-just be aware that the little rock could get thrown right out. I'm just saying don't bend over it to stare in you can stand straight up and see into it a little flashlight might be handy.
It's a plumbers job typically but most tradesmen if they have a year experience will not call in another trade just for that. Plumbers charge from 85.00 and up. They are so expensive that they actual charge by the 15(1/4) hour. Electricians too. Carpenters are usually cheapest because we have to know everybody's trade to build for their necessary tolerances it codes. It's opposite or upside down. I'm not even trying and can't help the sarcasm here. If you live in a house one of your closest neighbors travel wise can probably spare five minutes to help. Most people, I have found don't mind sharing what they know. It's and show off time. Look what I can do... If you want to try I'll trade pictures and talk you through it. It took longer to write all this down than the job itself. Especially if you are a find and peck typer.

That's alright. Most likely if they were big enough to use hemostats or needle most pliers or hand most people can get their hand in the disposals I recommend unplugging it if in reach let your other hand guard the switch..
It will eventually grind down or get caught up in food product an get rinsed out.
The worse thing I believe is lettuce, celery stringy food. I generally have good luck with the cheapest one(recommended). My father in law could wear out anything in no time. Especially disposals. It's going on the sewer line eventually from the sink. I usually try to knock off angel hair or spaghetti, pasta. Buy the cheapest. Like apts. 1/3hp unless you cook a lot daily. I learned from a guy that built a lot of apartments. I'm a house builder.
Just throw a couple of pieces of silverware down there too. As it grinds them...the rocks will disappear too. After that pour in 1 quart of 10-40 motor oil and you should be good to go.

@anythingoes477 I'm gonna do that right now BRB.

I've had that a few times and as long as it's a couple of small pieces you'll probably be okay. It will be noisy at first, but it should grind down. Much more than a couples of pieces, I'd want to try and clean it out.
If you have enough money to replace it does it really matter?
kentex35100+, M
@Aliveshock You can do that. You will have to remove and replace maybe take it out that's easy turn it up side down and see. There's a ring under breath that has 3 holes in it equally spaced don't it up into the sink basket and get that ring started, stick a screwdriver in one of the

You are not going to do this are you馃槂馃槂 if you have any questions about any of it just ask. They are simple machines and simple instructions. Like only 3 steps. Big pictures large print in 4 languages. Hint: I'd leave the past in the sink hole alone it's probably not leaking and requires more material: plumbers putty and clean up.
@kentex35
Hence buying a new one can make more sense.
kentex35100+, M
@Aliveshock they run from sixty to well over a hundred. Not really because of the install time it takes. If you buy it from seats, home Depot, Lowe's etc you can just go there and buy it and have it installed at your convenience. But that's really a waste it your time and scheduling for something that may take care of itself tomorrow.. if the rich is loose do some leftovers in with it always turn water on before machine. It loosens, and gets stuff floating a little so it can be sucked into the teeth get it mulched and shoot it out that little pipe on the side.
