If small pieces of gravel get into a garbage disposal, will it break it, ruin it?

Or grind down and be ok??

That's alright. Most likely if they were big enough to use hemostats or needle most pliers or hand most people can get their hand in the disposals I recommend unplugging it if in reach let your other hand guard the switch..
It will eventually grind down or get caught up in food product an get rinsed out.
The worse thing I believe is lettuce, celery stringy food. I generally have good luck with the cheapest one(recommended). My father in law could wear out anything in no time. Especially disposals. It's going on the sewer line eventually from the sink. I usually try to knock off angel hair or spaghetti, pasta. Buy the cheapest. Like apts. 1/3hp unless you cook a lot daily. I learned from a guy that built a lot of apartments. I'm a house builder.
