Still no love lost between Democrats and Republicans.

You would think that everything that has happened in the past 16 months would have brought us together, but nope. We've instead become even more divided. I guess some people would just prefer the latter.

It's funny because here in America at least, the ones preaching about patriotism are the ones who oppose each and every single idea that would bring us closer together. I'm not saying to agree with every single one...I don't 🤷‍♀️. At some point though, something has to give.

As a foreigner it's not for to take either side, and I don't; but reading reads threads like this outside you can see Latinlaybug's point entirely.

Some respondents are civilised; but on the whole there is just so little give-and-take, analysis, compromise, highlighting mistakes or praising successes. Just insults, often larded with childish obscenities, even for being supporters of one or the other party.

Those of you who can't debate your own nation's internal politics in a civilised manner on a public forum used overseas, seem unable to see that you drag the reputation of your own country down, irrespective of which party you support.

We abroad don't take your domestic sides but we do see the bitterness, the censorship or foul-mouthed abuse of people of opposing views, the armed gangs and their conspiracy-fantasies, the cults, the open racism; and while even our own nations may have some parallels, to us they make USA look as if about to implode.

The other aspect you don't realise is that many countries despise America, the UK, Europe etc. and their ways of life. Although those anti-"West" governments are hardly likely to read this site, they do know what is going on there, and all the openly, bitter divisions and rancour play into their hands.

All multi-party democracies air their problems, differences and divisions in public; but the USA seems to depress them to a level of her own and show them to the world she still thinks herself "leading".

Have robust debates, you Americans, on whatever you think the right way to run your own country... but for our own sakes try to avoid merely swearing and insulting each other merely for differing party allegiances! You only do yourselves and your nation down.

I don't trust republicans to run this joint, I don't trust them further than I can throw them. The last time democrats gave them a bone on anything they took it and started the fucking war in iraq. Point being only fools trust the republicans further than they can throw them. All they do is lie, always, all the time. do you know how you know a republican is lying? his mouth is moving.

Girl, you are beating a dead horse. Democrats and Republicans have been at each other's throats for so long, that I am surprised they haven't gotten divorced, yet 🤣.
@Rose0415 I am a Democrat and no kidding. people act like though I endorsed this party because I'm a yugeee fan and moonbat and the reality is just that I'm way to it's left but there's really only one alternative to the republicans that's even viable....

@BetweenKittensandRiotsWe're not allowed third parties. Libertarians are just conservatives who like weed.
@Crazywaterspring Yeah I know the thing is that unfortunately people are looking for any dirt to throw at anyone who dares endorse the democrats and it's just too easy. Oh Bidens a rapist!? and you're just sitting there like yeah but so was trump. What was I supposed to do? These people would likely be like "Vote third party?" and i'd be like no matter what any of us do thou one of those two is going to prevail.
The left has smeared everything, TV, newspapers, magazines, race, schools, even our money. The right isn't doing any of those things, it's bonkers.
@LeopoldBloom truth.
@LeopoldBloom Another good point.
@LeopoldBloom like hr1? That was awful self gratifying legislation, or D.C. state hood? They block bad bills.

Yeah......we've let the media tell us how to think and feel and we've prescribed our opinions of each other based on wich media we choose to follow
@Notanymore I think that is at least one thing that both sides can agree on.
Notanymore · 36-40, M
@latinbutterfly yeah. And once we all agree on that, we can start to realize that for one; we aren't as smart as they tell us we are and; those other guys aren't the monsters that they say.

divide and conquer... thats how you make a former big nation fall...
@chrisCA @Elena05 my generation is under siege.

theres's a huge group of people who are laughing at us for this but... generationallly we are now skeptical of capitalism.
@Elena05 @chrisCA I've been in America since I was 3 (1981), and it does seem the times where we were the most united was in the wake of a national tragedy.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@BetweenKittensandRiots They should be. It has failed everyone except the billionaires who have gamed everything.

And these political trolls stirring the pot on here doesn't help things either 🙄. They know damn well what they are doing.

@Stereoguy You can’t have unity with knee-jerk Republican obstruction.
