Is it rude to leave here without so much as a goodbye?

I've seen people here say that, and some say what's the point 🤷🏼‍♀️.

People are too polarised with what they want seen. They lament when someone goes without a word and have criticism when people do say words before leaving.
So, fuck what anyone else thinks. You do what feels right to you in the moment.

Of course you'd say goodbye to those you interact with at a personal level. It's more the open forum goodbyes I speak of.
Nah, everyone's fighting their own battles and should do what's best for them

If you talked to anyone for some length of time it's polite to let them know though

Before I left for study...
I sent my closest friends a PM to let them know I was leaving for a bit.
I would never put a post out.
Too many unnecessary comments like "off you go,
Bye now, and attention seeking.“

If I left I would say goodbye to the people I'm close to. I already have exchanged emails with a couple (I'm not planning on leaving, but just in case).

If I ever leave here again, I'll probably just say goodbye to the members who I'm closest to.

Maybe if you've been here a long time and have good friends here. If you haven't been here long enough to make friends, then I guess it doesn't matter.

When people do say goodbye, people jump on them and say it’s not a departure lounge! 🤷‍♂️

@Shutterbug Or that it's inconsiderate to not tell people that you are leaving 🤷🏼‍♀️.

@Rose0415 but also you don’t know what’s going through their heads either. They may feel unwelcome here even though they had friends.

It's all fake anyway. A few connections, but, we don't owe anyone anything

Often you can't. Batteries go flat. Electricity goes off... Wife walks into the room... XD

If you're close to certain people, it's better to say goodbye.

Dramatic exit, maybe! 🤔
You can’t please everyone. Some people might think it rude not to say goodbye if you had a lot of friends here. On the other hand, others believe a public farewell is too “attention-seeking”. I guess it’s an individual choice. 🙁
I know if I ever leave there are a few posters I will pm privately to advise and make sure they have a way of reaching me offline, if they want to stay in touch.
