Good question! Glad you asked! I’m OCD...all my socks are the same, so I find 2 with similar level of wear. Depending on what my plans are...almost new socks for important stuff, significant wear for casual stuff. Left sock first, then right..left shoe then right shoe

accodring to alan alda, it's far more efficient to go all the way through - socks, the shoe on foot a, then do the same for b, but it's too weird for me. plus I never really take my shoes upstairs, so it's always sock a, sock b, shoe a, shoe b for me.
