What organizations, if any, do you donate to?

I want to but I see so many people who abuse they system,first hand.

I want my money to go towards those who really need it

We live in a small community and know enough people that by word of mouth it's not hard to figure out who needs help. A gift card to either a grocery store or Walmart sent anonymously is our thing. That way you know it gets into the hands of someone who needs it.

@SageWanderer thats nice, an anonymous gift card
I’m not financially able to contribute but I try to volunteer my time and skills locally as well as donate clothes and food to various groups.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Pinkstarburst that's more than enough 🙂
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@Pinkstarburst I think many groups need that kind of help even more than money.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Quite a few. I make a substantial contribution to a scholarship fund for minority students underrepresented in my profession. I also contribute to my synagogue and several arts organizations. This year I’m also helping a local business stay afloat by contributing toward their rent and making lots of extra purchases.

@Harmonium1923 I also donate to climate/environmental groups, such as the Sierra Club, although the originator was a bit of a bigot, despite my disagreement on some of its stances, I still support the ACLU, various Children's Health Charities, some professional organizations, multiple political organizations whose philosophies I share. etc, you have to decide what sort f organizations you want to support then find ne or more that are legitimate.

@MarineBob That was my answer too. We donated to the food banks when this all started.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@iamnikki well you pretty much know your donation is going to do what you intended it to do
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MarineBob true, but some abuse that as well, my aunt for example.

The church that I attend to reach the needs of the congregation, area ministries. Compassion International, reaching the poor children of the world, with food, clothes, their families. Having supported this ministry since I was in college.

I used to, back when I could afford to. But then after a episode of 60 minutes where they reported how corrupt the donation organisations are I haven't renewed my payments.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 have a link?
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@iamnikki Nah, it was off of tv earlier in the year.

I donate to my kid's charter school, a local girls in music organization, and a couple animal rescue organizations that work on some of regional first nation reservations.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
unless charity is personal, it's usually abused; people who donate money to organizations like unicef are helping a bunch of lazy executives fund their pension fund and take lavish vacations more than anything... 🤔
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
does this count? 🤔
