no, but I'd rather do something than just sit on my fat ass and complain about how everything's shit.
SW-User
@SW-User it still not doing something. Nothing will get better with them people
@SW-User or with your grammar, it seems.
SW-User
@iness that don't matter

gol979 · 41-45, M
I understand your apathy and that voting for one of the reps or dems is almost the same but if the people get involved then they can hopefully change the way the political party represents them. Apathy and not voting is a wet dream for these politicians who don't care about you
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User it's not going to change of you don't engage, that is fact. It may change and no doubt it will be a struggle, if you engage. I don't just mean by voting but by reading, researching etc, and releasing our minds from the mainstream brainwashing.....the more of us that become aware of the machinations of power and establishment the better we are prepared to change it
SW-User
@gol979 or they all die an start from scratch
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SW-User if that's what you think will make a better society.......but you have to engage and learn first. It's easy to say, well they're all.the same.....so fuck it. It's harder to engage and try and change the corrupt system
SW-User
It’s not possible for politicians to “really care” about everyone. That’s not what voting is about.
SW-User
@SW-User they care about rich like them
SW-User
@SW-User Sure, but we don’t just vote for politicians. There are propositions and measures dealing with taxes and health care and the environment. Those mean more to me than voting for lackluster politicians.
Because people died so I could, both as a black person and as a woman. Maybe if I were a white man I could afford to be apathetic about it and things would still be okay. But voting is the only thing you have. If the vote wasn’t important people wouldn’t also have fought so hard to keep us from using it.

@gol979 I’m sure she is a little cynical (as am I)....but I would rather use my right to cast a vote for those I think will do a slightly better job than the other than to not vote and let others make that decision for me with no input on my part. I might well be on the side that is outvoted (but they would have been outvoted by a larger margin if people like me didn’t vote).
gol979 · 41-45, M
@DragonFruit I'm not saying not to vote.....see where I'm coming from with my other replies. I was just stating that I can understand his apathy but you need to.be engaged and up to speed to create genuine change
@gol979 Obama was a moderate, not a liberal. That’s the first thing people get wrong, and why the only reason the right wasn’t willing to work with him was because of their racism. If he’d been a white candidate they would’ve found more common ground with him, because he was initially amenable. That was why he used the Romney model for the ACA, rather than just extending Medicare to everyone, similar to NHS in the UK. It was originally a GOP program, and they could’ve help him tweak its flaws so that it worked for everyone. But instead, they turned healthcare into a partisan issue, labeling it “Obamacare” so that their racist constituents would push back. Now people are back going to the ER for healthcare. But in terms of social policies, Obama also supported women’s rights and programs that helped citizens. And regarding illegal immigrants, he followed the law as it stood without needing to demonize people, the way Trump does now. Obama also supported DACA. And under his watch “don’t ask don’t tell” went away and SCOTUS passed Obergfell v Hodges.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Politicians don’t "really care” about us, but some have more of a conscience than others when it comes to their record. Voting is almost always a case of picking the “lesser of two evils”, which can make a significant difference.
SW-User
@DragonFruit well they both evil so it not a win
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@SW-User Sometimes, getting “not so bad” as opposed to “terrible” is a victory (no politician is perfect or can satisfy everybody, so we do the best we can). It’s just what you do in other situations.
We don’t have perfect houses, perfect cars, perfect phones, perfect schools, etc.....so why do you bother choosing one over another? Because you see it as better for you than something else one for one reason or another. Life is full of compromises, but we have the ability to choose rather than having to accept someone else’s decision....that’s why I vote.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
I think a lot of them get into politics for the right reasons but then lose sight of that when they've been there too long. I feel like we should all vote to either keep in the ones still doing a good job for the country as a whole, or replace them with fresh blood that'll get the job done.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I love how they say they will do all these thing's. And none of it is done
SW-User
@smileylovesgaming they do opposites
MrAboo · 36-40, M
It’s qbout voting for the lesser of 2 evils to regulate your life
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Fuck. This is getting old..
SW-User
@JaggedLittlePill Just two more days before this all simmers down. Tomorrow will be a day of whining, finger pointing, and beating dead horses. After that, I'm hoping it's mostly over aside from the few people who seemingly cannot discuss anything else.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@SW-User I think I shall take a social media break for the next few days.
SW-User
@JaggedLittlePill I was considering the same just like I do between September 10-12 every year. See you Thursday. 😆
If the majority of Republicans and Democrats refused to vote it would make an impact. For a small amount or group not to vote might be an interesting fact on the OP ED page but not much of an impact on politics. What type of Government do you want to represent you ?
cultofaction · 26-30, M
Shut up I just want to see what happens
Bruja · F
I know they don't.
SW-User
@Bruja yeah so no point
