		@Starcrossed I've known a lot of employees that were given a choice to resign or be fired so basically it could be seen as a voluntary "layoff" by the employer...keeps the employee from making a lawsuit and also allows the employee to seek employment elsewhere with a clean record

		Lay offs don't typically reflect bad. Being fired is different. Being laid off is not a positive either though. You'll be in the same group as those that haven't worked in a while which tends to be less preferable to those still holding jobs and looking to move around.
