📱 The "Similar Worlds App" is now Available! (Android) 🎉
We are pleased to announce that Similar Worlds now finally has its very own 📱 Mobile App! 🎊
The Similar Worlds App can be found on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.similarworlds https://similarworlds.com/app
• The Similar Worlds App should provide users with all of the features of the regular browser/website version, but with an improved and streamlined experience on mobile devices.
• Currently, our App is only available for Android Devices, via the Google Play Store.
• We do intend to make an App available for iPhone/Apple Devices as well, but we currently do not have a timeline for the completion of this. (It's a lot more complicated and difficult to have the App made and approved for the Apple Store.)
• To help our Similar Worlds grow, please do consider leaving Positive Reviews for the SW App, so that it can be seen by more new people, who may decide to give SW a try. 🌟
• Also, as always, please be courteous to others! Both existing users and newcomers alike.
While I'm not likely to use it, thank you for the option.
The reason is because I look up a lot of things and it's so much easier in an actual web browser. Just highlight, search. Not so easy in other apps. And I actually use multiple search engines.
Thank you, I'm sure many will appreciate it. It's not something I will use, as I use a PC 95% of the time.

@SW-User Would there be any surplus value in using an "app" instead of the built-in Safari browser? The app will just load the same site. Placing a bookmark in your browser is much less expensive.
It is great but it would be nice if there is an apk version for those who can't access it from play store due to country restrictions, or other access issues.
@Nuno It is working for me. I was referring to IR users and possible other highly censored countries. Algeria allows access to most sites with an exception of few.
@Miram Ah ok, I understand. That could be an option, but:
1) usually, that is considered a "hacky" process and we'd like to avoid having apk files floating around, which could then open to scam/tricking. So our recommendation will always be to never download the app from anywhere else other than from Google Play itself.
2) user will not get updates automatically, unless we provide with a new apk every time.
@SW-User maybe to stick with their limited functionality for a higher price in the name of simplicity and smooth looks? For a real answer you'll have to ask Apple as I've never understood their choices or why people would spend so much on their products. 🤷
Are you planning to add features to the app? I would like the ability to open multiple pages and to refresh a page. If that's possible, then I would like to know how, please.
@Nuno You guys are good. Firefox shouldn't be the default though. It's the DuckDuckGo mobile browser. Though I have Firefox too, maybe the app can't use DDG. 🤔
Congratulations, I just hope the IOS app will be available soon. I lost too many Experience Project acquaintances when SW was launched without an app. It was like- ‘no app, I’m not joining,’
@Mikelee20 Hello. Unfortunately, iPhone doesn't yet support Push Notifications like all other devices support. Good news is that they're finally working on that, so hopefully in a few months (planned for 2023) on iOS 16. If they implement it correctly, it should "just work" after the iOS upgrade.
