about 4 billion years ago (don't remember exactly), some Russian guy(can't remember his name), 28, the earth gets between the sun and the moon creating a shadow on the moon. many many miles (or was it many many many miles, I can't remember)

Let's see,

Solar system formed? Maybe 4.5 billion years ago? Something like that. Maybe a bit longer.
First man in space? Yuri Gagarin (sp) IIRC.
Moon orbit earth every 28 or so days.
Lunar eclipse? Earth getting between sun and moon, casting shadow on moon.
Circumference of earth? roughly 25,000 miles? Maybe a bit less.
