Do you have a basic kettle or a state-of-the-art kettle?

And are you satisfied with it? ☕
TexChik · F
If it doesn't whistle and has flame marks on the underside, it's not a kettle!
brian29715 · 46-50, M
@TexChik absolutely.
Neither. I’m so ashamed.

@OlderSometimesWiser aww, I will buy you one, you're just too cute.

We don't even have a stove top kettle at the moment. I use the coffee pot if I need hot water.
Basic. Yes,but I think I want to upgrade to a transparent one when it's time to replace
A basic electric kettle now. It’s lasted over 3 years.

I have a tipper kettle, it does the job but it's pretty fugly.
I used to have a fancy stove-top tea kettle with a sort of train whistle sound. But we discovered that an electric kettle boils the water twice as fast. It is quite satisfactory.

P.S.: I don't know what "state-of-the-art" means in this context.
@ElwoodBlues @ElwoodBlues like one with a timer, or one with special effects!
@EarthlingWise Our electric water boiler doesn't have a timer. It is smart enough to turn off once it reaches a rolling boil. And there are blue LEDs that come on when it's heating; not much of a special effect.

I just have this basic electric turkish coffe pot. Used to have a sophisticated coffee maker which I didn't use much because I only like to drink plain Turkish coffee and if not available then just black coffee..

And i am thinking of buying the even more basic version of just a turkish coffee pot that I used my entire life.. because Turkish coffee would be tastier in that one as it will take longer to boil and call me crazy but it does give it a special taste.. I miss waiting by it to boil..This pot was good when I wanted to avoid the kitchen.. now I feel no need for it.

i'm American, so pot on the stove. stove top kettles are hard to clean and electric kettles don't get very hot here
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Electric kettle.
Works pretty well but modern ones don't tend to last long if you use them several times a day
@Picklebobble2 True. 🫤

@EarthlingWise 🤷‍♂️long as i can have a way too boil water for a cup of tea i do
not mind what sort of kettle is is really
shinyplasticlove · 51-55, M
I love the design of this thing. It seems like it injects water into my cup.

I am not sure how a kettle, be it electric or for use on a hob, can be "state of the art" but I do think kettle and teapot designers have lost the art of designing spouts that pour cleanly!

(I have both a hob kettle, used mainly for heating the washing-up water, and an electric jug pattern kettle.)
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Basic, it takes ages to boil!
mindless · M
I got boiling water on tap
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
I don’t drink coffee.
@Captainjackass Personally, as a serious home gourmet, I hate microwaves.
Captainjackass · 31-35, M
@NativePortlander1970 I work and go to school so I have no choice most of the time.
@Captainjackass I'd rather eat cold food than it being nuked.
Neither, but I saw one on sale that I’m ordering.
Azlotto · M
