Are pull-down kitchen sink sprayers good?

The plumber just suggested I buy my own new kitchen faucet with a pull-down sprayer. I really didn't know what he was talking about. Then I saw them online. Do I want this? Do I need this? I never use the regular sprayer that is with my current kitchen faucet.

They do look like they would be quite handy. Or he's just trying to make a few extra bob...

They are fantastic. They are especially good for washing cook/bakeware, and it makes rinsing out the sink really easy.

@Poppies I bought mine on Amazon - best prices and a big selection.

@Poppies Yep. Installed when we renovated this place which would have been late 2004, early 2005.

@Poppies The instant hot water dispenser barely lasted a decade. The dishwasher needed a new motor after 17, 18 years. The refrigerator needed service after about 15 and replacement this year. But the sprayer keeps on going.

I can only say I love mine and would also suggest the motion detection (you wave your hand under it to turn it on and off) which is wonderful when you’re making something messy.

@JustNik Thank you for pointing out the pros of technical advancements.
I say NO to both need and want, but I am BIASED..

Why?.... Because we have really hard water in my town and if you use and sprayer, whether detached or a "pull-down" at the end of the faucet, it becomes clogged with calcium deposits within a year and that looks like YUCK.... So you end up buying a new faucet for $250 or so and start the process all over again.

I have had a faucet with a detached sprayer for over 10 years. I DO NOT use the detached spray (but it fills the hole in the sink ledge) and the set-up works just fine,

BTW: I did notice that the 'big-box' home improvement places no longer stock faucets like mine, They all have the 'pull-down' sprayer ones now.

I like my pull down sprayer, it's good for tall pans, or just rinsing out the sink, it's very convenient.
Yeah and id buy mine online because the stores want over twice as much for the same thing..

can you run around with it and spray people? that sounds fun!

Theyre way better than a regular faucet
