She Tried to Turn Him into a Frog

My 8YO great granddaughter went to the school librarian and told her she wanted a book on casting spells. The librarian ask why she wanted to cast spells. She said she wanted to turn her teacher into a frog. The librarian showed her a section of books on the subject. My great granddaughter checked out several and the librarian wished her luck. The next week my great granddaughter took the books back and handed them to the librarian telling her it didn't work. The librarian said I know. I'm married to your teacher.

Cheeky girl! It's great that there are still skilled librarians with a sense of adventure 🙂

School and public librarians have our kids cornered. They pick the books for them to read. They shape the American mind.

Er yes, that's what teachers and librarians are there for, to nurture and enthuse young minds. Do you think 8 year olds just automatically pick up a reading habit?

When I was small, my mom picked out books for me to read. She gave me my first book, "The Little Prince". When I was old enough, she would take me to the public library every week to pick out books for us to read. I would help her carry the books back to the car. I did that all the way thru high school when I lost interest in reading but still went to the library with her every damn week. I couldn't believe how a person could read that many books each and every week. Mom knows everything. You should watch her at dinner parties. There wasn't a topic that she did not have an opinion on.

Anyway, my point is this. It's not the librarian's business to shape kids minds. Kids belong to their parents who decide what books their kids read.

Kids belong to their parents

Children are not possessions 😞

I'm glad you had such a supportive parent. Mine were on active naval service during most of my formative years, so I benefited greatly from the support and encouragement of other adults who invested in my education. And having more than one influence and perspective on the world can be nothing but positive 🙂

This is your cultural mindset of a human digit. Where I come from, family bonding trumps everything.

What were your parents thinking? You have not been properly raised in a family setting. You were an orphan who has not developed in a natural state. Compared to you, I was like a chick that grew up with mother hen always at my side, or a baby cheetah. You may not know it, you are heartless because you had been heartlessly raised. Even though elephants raise their young in the herd, mom is always there.
