Q: So, if you get Bill out of William, and Bob out of Robert, how do you get Dick out of Richard?

A: Ask Dick nicely to back out of Richard.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you didn't have to ask him nicely, apparently he used his celebrity status to get what he wanted. There is an incredibly funny episode of QI which goes into this and the hugely intellectual Stephen Fry makes a hilarious faux pas.
