I sharpen my pocket knives and hunting knives with Arkansas whetstones. A sharp knife is safer to use than a dull one.

I bought some new knives and I never use them because they're too sharp, and I'm afraid I'm going to cut myself. I've even cut my finger tips unloading them from the dishwasher because they are in there point side up, and I just grab them and forget they are there (my hub likes to use them).

@Spoiledbrat With practice, you'll get comfortable with it, I'm sure.

A lot like driving a car... I can't drive a car
@Spoiledbrat Believe it or not, it's more dangerous to cut something with a dull knife because you have to use more force and it can slip. Professional chefs always use razor-sharp knives.

@Spoiledbrat I love these. Yes, you can get paper-cut-like cuts with them without even knowing when it happened but cutting tomatoes is priceless. We keep covers on them most of the time and handle with a lot of caution.
I saw this too and had to purchase ginsu knives

@mindlessdrifter that's good to hear. As a kid, I never had any use for incredibly sharp knives

@mindlessdrifter Ginsu. That's a blast from the past. Good knives too.
@Crazywaterspring Yes they sure are
When I was a kid a guy got around on a cart door knocking offering to sharpen knives …
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout you let him do it?
@caPnAhab I think dad got him to sharpen a knife once..
like the milkman.. you just stopped him outside your house if you wanted him to stop 👍

I really don't remember this one. 🤣
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@DeWayfarer must've been from the early 2000s I think
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@caPnAhab Him. Was watching some TV then. I should have seen it at some point. 🤷🏻‍♂️
pride49 · 31-35, M
That's...a block of wood 😐
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@pride49 that's why it was funny

I know knives very well.

I know how to put new blade edge on them. Like I can change a butter knife into a straight razor and shave with it.

That's bread? Looks like a piece of upholstery foam!
I have a $400 sharpening system, it gets all my cutlery so scary razor sharp you wouldn't even know you cut yourself, until you see gushing blood.
