Religion, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.

‘‘What is your religion, my son?’’ inquired the Archbishop of Rheims. ‘‘Pardon, monseigneur,’’ replied Rochebriant; ‘‘I am ashamed of it.’’

‘‘Then why do you not become an atheist?’’

‘‘Impossible! I should be ashamed of atheism.’’

‘‘In that case, monsieur, you should join the Protestants.’’

- Ambrose Bierce "The Unabridged Devil’s Dictionary"

and then there is that, apparently in Christianity everyone else is the devil if you're not part of their tiny sect or church. Who can understand them really.

Catholics have the truth, Protestants also but only one is going to heaven and the other to hell according to each other.

At least the Catholic church tries to embrace as much as it can.

Catholics call Protestants separated brothers.

Protestants call Catholics the devil and damned to hell.

@dark548 [c=002673]Catholicism is a whole other religion from protestant christianity.[/c]

@SW-User not really

@dark548 [c=002673]Yes really. Catholicism worships idols: praying to Mary and the saints. Protestant christianity claims to have only one god: the risen savior, Jesus Christ.[/c]

@SW-User in that sense yes but they both follow the moral teachings of Jesus Christ or attempt to therefore it is not entirely a different religion. Entirely different religion would best fit Christianity vs Hinduism or even Buddhism

@dark548 [c=002673]Catholicism is anathema and antichrist to many protestants. Plus, if they don't look to Jesus as God and ultimate authority, then they are technically of a different religion. Maybe pantheistic (or popetheistic).[/c]
