(1) People sue city government for failures and incompetence

(2) The people win lawsuit and are given settlement out of their own taxes
(3) how is that not a catch-22 ?

Cause more of the tax money is coming in than is going out.
they should change policy that government workers who knowingly and willingly break the law. or violate the constitution pay for their legal defenses out their own damn pockets and not the cities tax coffers.
and make their own damn insurance company pay up..

which is the way it prolly was once upon a time. but these snakes get together and fix the system for themselves...
is it not the same as when someone buys lottery tickets and wins even though their taxes went towards their winnings?
So like Who cares if it’s a catch 22 they’re a multi millionaire now lol

@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart LOL!

Your country's national lottery is financed from taxes?

Ours (UK) isn't. It's not even "ours" but owned by some Canadian teachers' union. Or was, I'm not sure if it still is.

I gave up on it when they both doubled the stake from £1 to £2 and hugely multiplied the already vast odds against winning even a 4-figure sum by upping the 6 from 49, to 6 from 50.

Exactly, and it applies to any of the public services, though in practice it means cutting the real services rather than taking more in tax to pay for it.

Right and the same thing can be said for grocery store and plastics

Go look at my post on that catch 22
